You Don’t Know What You Are Looking For

This is the most common cause of people not succeeding — they don’t fully know what they are trying to achieve. A half-baked goal will usually lead to a muddled and inefficient approach to achieving it.

Make it crystal-clear exactly what you are working towards. It can be anything in life – but you have to know what you want 100% of the time.

For instance, instead of targeting just a promotion, write down exactly what role you are trying to land & how much time you are going to devote to that. You can even write in how much money you would like to make and what lifestyle changes you would like to see from it.

You Procrastinate Too Much

The ones who fail are also usually the ones who procrastinate. Are you waiting until tomorrow to begin going to the gym or to apply for that job that you have always dreamed of? Well, then something needs to change.

Break down your work into smaller steps so that you can track each step of each task. You’ll be less afraid and more motivated to stick it out.

Everybody is scared of not doing well. Imposter syndrome isn’t an illusion – and if you’re paralyzed by fear, you won’t get things done.

Rather, take failure as a teaching moment. We all fall at times but those who learn from their failures & keep on moving are the ones who win life. You have to get out of your comfort zone and don’t be afraid to fail.

You’re Always Expecting The Worst

Your mind can lift you to new heights – but negativity can keep you low. Don’t settle for less. Don’t be pessimistic, think positive and be thankful for all that you’ve already got. You’ll have the motivation to keep going.

You Don’t Plan Enough

When you’ve got your objectives, don’t just get started and try to implement whatever comes to mind. Create an action plan so you know where to start.

Each objective should be broken into work and deadlines. Sort according to timeframes and importance of each. This will help you identify what you need to do first, and what should be next for each objective.

You Say Yes To Everything

Accepting every request might feel like the sensible thing to do if you’re being helpful. This might leave you overworked and exhausted though.

No one is offended by gently declining more work when your plate is full. It is equitable and will enable you to pay proper attention to all of the items you would like to focus on.

Also, practice saying NO to yourself when you feel like checking off another goal, task or list item. Give the biggest effort to the biggest outcome. Keep the rest on the backlog.

You Don’t Ask For Feedback

You’ve probably heard it a million times: Feedback is a gift. You won’t get any better if you still don’t want to hear truthful feedback. Listen to constructive feedback – be respectful of the process – you will learn and grow eventually.

Nobody Holds You Accountable

No matter how much you’ve been planning and preparing, you will make a mistake every now and then. Or it could be you simply aren’t the person to do the job. This is why you must have a teacher or at least a friend who can hold you accountable. And it has to be someone who can encourage you and provide support as you need it.

You Never Celebrate The Little Things

As you’re focusing on your objectives, you lose sight of the small wins along the way. Whenever you have broken through an obstacle or worked out how to resolve something that brings you closer to your big dreams, remember to celebrate what you have accomplished so far. It’ll help you stay positive and motivated along the way.
