The future is going to be anything but ordinary. From incredible tech breakthroughs & changes in what we eat, it’s hard not to get excited. Either way, some of these predictions seem straight out of science fiction yet they have a good chance of happening. Here are eleven surprising predictions that might come true. If they happen, they’ll completely change the way we live. Let’s take a step into the future.

AI Legal Assistants Replacing Entry-Level Lawyers

Artificial intelligence is moving ahead fast and is beginning to change the law. Companies like LawGeex & ROSS Intelligence are developing AI legal assistants to handle routine tasks like reviewing contracts and drafting documents. Such programs sift through thousands of pages quickly—sometimes more accurately than people! As such, law firms may soon use them instead of hiring new lawyers since they’ll cut costs and make things run more efficiently.
Space-Based Solar Power Stations Supplying Earth

To meet our growing energy needs, scientists are looking to space because solar power space stations could collect sunlight without the atmosphere blocking it. Then, they’d beam the energy back to Earth as microwaves. It’d be a constant & huge power source that would supply energy no matter the weather or time. Best of all, it’d cut our dependence on fossil fuels and that’s why countries like China are investing so heavily in this technology.

Lab-Grown Meat Becoming Cheaper Than Traditional Meat

It sounds bizarre but scientists are getting close to serving up lab-grown meat on our dinner plates. They’ll produce real meat without needing to raise animals because it’d all happen in a lab. The technology is improving quickly which will reduce production costs. As such, there’s a real chance that lab-grown meat will soon be cheaper than farm-raised meat. If that happens, it’d completely change the agricultural industry & the food that we eat.
Personal Flying Vehicles Hitting the Skies

Thanks to all the advancements in aerospace technology, personal flying vehicles may soon become a real possibility. For example, Volocopter is developing electric vertical takeoff & landing (eVTOL) aircraft for city transportation. Such vehicles would allow people to fly over traffic jams and get to places faster. In the next ten years, commuters might choose the skies over the roads.
Commercial Flights Going All-Electric

Speaking of flights, the aviation industry is moving toward sustainability & electric aircraft are becoming a reality. Several companies are working on developing planes powered entirely by electricity which could soon be used for commercial flights. And that’s a good thing! They’d be quieter and give us emission-free travel over short to medium distances.
Gene Therapy Reversing Alzheimer’s Disease

Medical researchers are looking into new ways to treat Alzheimer’s disease—and gene therapy is showing a lot of promise. It involves targeting specific genes related to the condition which would allow scientists to stop or even reverse its progression. Currently, several companies are running clinical trials. The early results look good. If this works out, it’d be one of the greatest breakthroughs in medical history.
Augmented Reality Contact Lenses Replacing Smartphones

Many companies are developing augmented reality (AR) contact lenses that project images right onto your eye. These lenses could do everything a smartphone does (including making calls & sending messages) but without holding a device. With these AR contact lenses, our lives would change in ways we haven’t even imagined yet. No more screens—just your eyes!
Engineered Bacteria Producing Biodegradable Plastics

Since we’re so worried about plastic waste, scientists are trying to invent things to fight the plastic pollution problem. This includes engineering bacteria to produce biodegradable plastics by turning organic materials into natural polymers. Eventually, these bioplastics break down naturally. If we scaled up this technology, we’d reduce our reliance on traditional, petroleum-based plastics.
Quantum Internet Enabling Ultra-Secure Communication

Quantum computing is creating all manner of possibilities—including ultra-secure communication. A quantum internet would use quantum mechanics to send data in a way that’s practically unhackable. As such, countries like the United States & China are investing heavily in this technology to protect sensitive info. Cyber threats could soon be a thing of the past!
Universal Basic Income Trials Expanding Globally

As AI affects jobs, more countries are trying out universal basic income (UBI) programs. Such initiatives involve giving citizens regular payments to cover basic living costs—no strings attached. Places like Finland & cities in Canada have run trials. As such, we’ll likely see expanded trials that study UBI’s effects on poverty, employment & overall well-being. Of course, there’s no certainty whether any countries will fully adopt UBI programs. But we can definitely expect to see more trials of it.
Cryptocurrency Adopted as Official Currency

Cryptocurrencies are becoming more popular & some countries are thinking about adopting them as official currency. For example, El Salvador has already made Bitcoin legal tender. Supporters of the switch to a digital national currency claim it’d create greater transparency and cut down on problems like counterfeiting. As a result, it would change the global economy & how we handle money.
