A man doesn’t need to do anything spectacularly awful to be a bad person, because it turns out that his smaller habits will tell you the most about the kind of guy he is.
Someone else always says it first

Here’s one you’ll notice in public. You’re at a restaurant and the server comes over, but instead of acknowledging them, this sort of man just sits there. They wait for somebody else to say hello. It may seem like nothing, but then you realize it happens with the cashier and delivery driver, too.
The guy only responds once the social part has already been started for him. He never starts it himself. In other words, he makes other people handle basic courtesy because he doesn’t see it as worth his time. That sort of cold behavior isn’t exactly a good habit.
His plate gets first pick

There might be six people at the table and six pieces of food, but one piece looks bigger than the others. That big piece is the one that somehow lands on his plate before anyone else’s. It tends to happen before anyone starts serving themselves, and he may not even think about it.
But that’s the problem. Shared food should be, well, shared, and exploitative guys usually take the bigger or better share first. Once or twice isn’t a huge problem. If he keeps getting the nicest option first, however, then he’s showing a pretty ugly habit.
The clock somehow bends for him

Lateness happens to us all sometimes, and that’s understandable. A guy who’s always 40 minutes late is obviously a bad person. But then there are the other guys who are always seven minutes late, or maybe nine. Anything less than 15 minutes, really.
It’s just long enough that everyone else is waiting, but not quite enough that anyone’s going to make an issue of it. A man who behaves like this is a low-quality person because it shows he doesn’t really care about other people. He shaves off a little bit of their time because he assumes they’ll absorb it. How selfish.
He spends time that isn’t his

Notice how this kind of guy offers help. He may not directly tell you that he can assist, but instead, he’ll say things like, ‘My girlfriend can help you with that.’ He didn’t ask her. But still, he’s fine lending out other people’s evenings and skills, as if they’re his own.
What makes it worse is that he might even think he’s being helpful. He’s not. The truth is, he’s trying to benefit from other people’s time and effort while giving none of his own. It’s easier for him to offer someone’s resources rather than his own, and that’s a red flag.
Bad news arrives at the deadline

You might hear a guy tell you about how he knew about the problem three days ago. Yet for some reason, everyone finds out about it 20 minutes before it needs to be fixed. Funny how that works.
It’s not an accident. He’s chosen to give the warning when everyone else has the least room to do anything useful about it. It’s worse than simple procrastination. Put it this way, he’s postponing bad news until everyone else has to scramble. That’s hardly considerate.
The empty package stays put

Some of the worst guys are the ones who can’t seem to throw away an empty package. They’ll finish off the box of cereal, for example, but then decide to put it back in the cupboard. The idea of throwing the empty box away doesn’t occur to them.
These guys tend to lack any respect for other people. Throwing something away takes seconds, and sure, replacing it may take a little longer. But a guy who leaves the empty container there is passing both jobs to whoever comes along next, and that’s pretty rude.
There’s always one tiny bit left

The only thing worse than a guy who doesn’t throw the empty boxes away is a guy who refuses to use it all. He might drink almost all of the carton of orange juice, but leave two tablespoons at the bottom. It’s not enough for anyone to drink. But it’s enough for the carton to be their problem.
Guys like this know that leaving some behind means they don’t have to deal with the issue, and they’re happy to take from shared resources without contributing anything. Sometimes it might be accidental, but when it keeps happening, then it’s a choice.
A yes or no becomes a project

Getting a straight answer out of him is way more difficult than it should be. You try asking whether he wants dinner at 7, and two hours later, you’re still wondering whether to book the table. Then comes the follow-up.
He saw the message ages ago and probably thought about it, but he decided that answering could wait. These sorts of men make their lack of organization somebody else’s problem. It’s plain inconsiderate through and through, no matter what he might tell you.
Nothing ever officially ends

It’s interesting how plans with him always die out without anybody being told they’re dead. That trip you were going to go on never gets mentioned again, and that thing he borrowed stays borrowed. This kind of guy refuses to close the loop.
No, he’d much rather leave everything there half-alive until somebody else finally asks what’s happening. It sure is irritating. Nobody can make plans around a maybe, and most adults are mature enough to say ‘No’ or ‘I’m out’ without prompting.
The gift is partly for the audience

Some guys have a habit of giving really expensive gifts, and it definitely looks impressive. The thing is, though, the gift has almost nothing to do with the person opening it. All this guy cares about is looking good.
He doesn’t care whether the receiver wants the present or if they even care about it. His only concern is that everyone sees how impressive it is. The gifts consistently say more about him than they do about the recipient, and that’s a pretty lousy habit.
