10 clear signs you have real chemistry with someone

Good chemistry can turn the most ordinary of moments into ones that you keep thinking about, even long after the time itself is over.

When contact gets louder

You’ll notice a tiny touch a lot more when there’s chemistry between you, and that’s because it doesn’t feel tiny anymore. No, your hands brush each other for a moment when you’re passing a menu. Your brain takes note of it.

Even a pair of knees touching each other under the table can feel like a lot when you’ve got chemistry. Mutual attraction makes physical closeness feel a lot more intense. The fact that neither of you rushes to pull away, well, that’s just the cherry on the cake.

The pause keeps going

Most people think silence is a bad thing. Not when you have good chemistry, though, and that’s because it doesn’t feel all that awkward. You stop talking, but neither of you starts panicking to find a new topic. You don’t start checking your phone.

It feels like your silence is charged, and the connection doesn’t disappear simply because nobody’s talking. The majority of casual conversations need words to keep moving. Yet when you’ve got good chemistry, the energy keeps going through the pauses.

The room starts disappearing

The best kinds of conversations are the ones where you’ve forgotten the whole room. Not in a rude way or anything, but because you’ve become so invested in the discussion that you forget about everyone else. That’s a good sign you’re connected.

Strong attraction between two people can narrow their attention. It narrows so much, in fact, that the other person takes up more mental space than everything else. The whole world falls away because you’re that good with each other. It’s hard to find a person like that.

The joke lands cleanly

Teasing is kind of risky, and especially when you don’t know someone well. Telling a bad joke could completely ruin the entire conversation. When it’s with someone you’ve got chemistry with, however, you can easily find the line while poking fun at each other.

You can joke around with each other harmlessly. They’re able to go along with your little jabs and respond with their own. Both of you can read what’s going on without being offended. Put it this way, people with good chemistry are able to tease each other, and both of them enjoy it.

The goodbye keeps restarting

The conversation is supposed to be over, but for some reason, it isn’t. You say you need to leave, yet you end up continuing the discussion while you’re at the door. It could be that you have a lot to say. It could also be because you’re trying to stretch the end as much as you can.

You have such good chemistry together that you don’t want it to be over. You know how hard it is to find someone who gets you like they do. So, you do whatever you can to make sure the conversation continues.

The group keeps rearranging

Good chemistry between two people is obvious even in a group setting. You might notice, for example, that you both keep getting pulled back into the same orbit. There are dozens of other people around, sure, yet you keep turning back to them. They do it too.

It might not even involve you talking to each other each time. Maybe you just angle your bodies toward each other. Still, people with good chemistry tend to orient themselves toward whoever feels most relevant to them, and it stands out when two people keep doing it.

The conversation changes speed

The pair of you are joking about bad coffee one minute, and the next, you’re discussing your parents. If the conversation kept hopping between subjects like that normally, you’d think it’s clumsy. But it doesn’t feel like that when you have good chemistry.

Both of you are on the same page. You’re able to follow the switch without needing to reset the conversation, and the change in topic is relatively easy for the two of you. You’re just that connected.

The rhythm of your footsteps

You might’ve noticed that, whenever you walk with each other, you’re both moving at exactly the same pace. It’s not something you consciously decided to do. Yet, somehow, you’re both there, taking the same steps at the same time, with no more thought to it.

That’s a pretty good indication of strong chemistry. You’re synchronizing your movements with each other because you find each other attractive. No, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re head-over-heels for each other, but you’re certainly aligned in some way.

The timing keeps matching

One of the most ridiculous signs involves how you both do things. Namely, that you keep doing them at the same moment. You turn to say something, and they’ve already turned toward you, almost like they knew you were going to speak.

That’s because you’re both on the same level. People who have really good chemistry tend to become more coordinated in their movements and physical responses, even though they don’t recognize it. Once or twice is nothing. But when it happens all evening, that’s something else.

Getting more daring

You don’t even need to say anything about it. No, there’s a point where the conversation gets a little braver, and a safe joke becomes a flirtier one. A basic question becomes one that really gets to the heart of the other person’s opinion.

That’s a good sign that you have chemistry, as one of you has taken a small risk, and the other has met it. You’re building confidence around each other. It’s not something you’re going to do around an ordinary person.
