Some foods just don’t taste as good when you get older. After 45, many people find they can’t stomach many of the foods they once loved so much, thanks to lifestyle changes, sugar hangovers, indigestion, or just the knowledge that they make you feel worse rather than better.
So many of these things slowly disappear completely from your diet. Here’s a list of common foods many people no longer crave after 45.

All-you-can-eat buffets

Piling your plate high was a fun challenge you wanted to take on when you were younger. Now, the mere sight of all that food makes you think, “nah, one plate is fine.”
Extremely spicy foods

Challenge wings, fiery curries, or extra-hot tacos were all once staples for those looking for a thrill. But now that your taste buds (and stomach) are more sensitive, you can say no.
Midnight takeout

Midnight fast food runs were a staple on weekends. But now, a car drive to your local burger joint is more likely to make you sleepy and queasy.
Sugar-filled desserts

Be it a huge slice of cake or a donut, your sweet tooth was hard to beat. But now, a few bites are usually enough, and you’re reaching for fruit instead.
Bottomless soda or soft drinks

Sodas or carbonated drinks were once a great treat, and you never looked at the amount of sugar you were chugging in one sitting. But as you age, it just feels like punishment.
Instant noodles or frozen dinners

These were a total lifesaver for you back when you were younger, and you never thought they tasted bland. Now they don’t have the same kick, and you want something with flavor.
Ultra-cheesy dishes

Mac and cheese, nachos, pizzas, or any other overly cheesy dish is still awesome. But now you know it’s going to sit heavy in your stomach.
Extra-sugary cocktails

Colorful and sugary cocktails were the thing when you were younger. Now you prefer a classic glass of wine or a simple cocktail with no syrup.
Gigantic greasy breakfasts

Devouring an enormous breakfast plate of bacon, eggs, and pancakes was once a thing of beauty. But nowadays, you know a light breakfast will keep you way better.
Giant milkshakes

A big chocolate milkshake topped with whipped cream and candy was once something your mouth drooled over. But now, you think about the sugar crash before you even order.
Fried foods

Deep-fried chicken, onion rings, or any kind of fried food still looks tempting to you. But you know it will give you heartburn and sit heavily on your stomach, so you avoid them often.
Energy drinks

They used to be your go-to drinks if you had a long day or needed something extra late at night. But now, your body just warns you, “caffeine overload, please just have coffee or tea!”
