Beanie Babies

Beanie Babies were once the fashion in the U.S. They were treated as rare items: they would be hoarded — hundreds of these were collected to someday fetch cash. Even after the craze vanished, some people still have collections, even if most are no longer very valuable.
Baseball Cards

Snow Globes From All Vacation Places

It’s not uncommon for Americans to purchase snow globes as souvenirs of places they go on holiday. They hoard these little, blown-glass images in every city or landmark that they visit. People say it’s weird because most snow globes collect dust on bookshelves, but to collectors they are little souvenirs of every adventure they’ve ever been on.
Empty Liquor Bottles

Some Americans also keep empty liquor bottles as a “trophy” of recent nights out or celebrations. They put them on shelves or make displays out of them. For strangers they’re rubbish, but to them each bottle contains memories of holidays or celebrations.
Old License Plates

License plates are another bizarre American collectible. ‘People search for plates from other states, or even earlier times. They’ll hang them on walls or in garages. For casual collectors, they’re scraps of metal, but for collectors, each plate is a piece of Americana on its own.
Fast Food Toys

Americans love fast food toys such as those included in children’s meals. This plastic toy doesn’t sound like much, but collectors are drawn to these small toys that transport them back to their childhood. Some even sell them or keep them in great condition, awaiting their day of fame.
Vintage Pyrex Dishes

Many Americans adore collecting old Pyrex dishes, the patterned ones from decades ago. Though they are just cookware, there is nostalgia attached to the plates and some of them can be pricey if you find them in abundance. Some people have them hung in their kitchens as throwback decor or family souvenirs.
Rocks from Different Places

Americans also gather rocks and stones from their own travels — even ordinary pebbles. They’ll take home a rock from a beach, mountain, or park as a souvenir of their journey. Others would think this is vain as rocks are everywhere but to collectors every rock tells the story of where they have been.
Rubber Ducks

Buying rubber ducks seems like a waste of time, but some Americans love it. They buy ducks of every size, color and imaginable costume — from traditional yellow ducks to holiday or superhero ducks. Though absurd in its own right, it’s a harmless hobby that brings a dash of naivety into the living room of collectors.
