10 Beauty Habits Many Women Admit To Giving Up After 35

There is something about reaching your mid-30s that makes you stop and reconsider a lot of the beauty routines that you were sure you would never give up before. Now it is not about wearing all the “in” products or following each and every trend. It’s more of an instinctive thing that makes you focus on what feels good, what works, and what makes you happy.

Here are 10 beauty routines a lot of women admit to saying goodbye to after they turned 35, and honestly, they’re better without them.

Wearing heavy foundation every day

Going full-face foundation used to be the standard beauty routine for many, but as we age, it can start to feel heavy and cakey on the skin. A lot of women say they switch to light coverage or tinted moisturizers and actually let their skin breathe.

Over-plucking eyebrows

Remember those thin brows that were so last season? They were not for everybody. After 35, women often let their brows breathe and shape them into a more natural and softer look instead of over-tweezing.

Scrubbing their skin raw with rough exfoliants

Sugar scrubs, apricot scrubs, buffing with the bristles, etc. It’s all too harsh on the skin, and many women age 35+ know gentler exfoliators provide better results.

Sleeping in makeup

So you stayed out late, had a few drinks, and got lazy washing your makeup off at the end of the night? But as we get older, those rashes and bumps that come with not washing your face can become a no-no.

Jumping on every beauty trend

Glitter lips? Over-caffeinated contour? Tempting, but so many women admit to no longer feeling the need to try every trend in town. Instead, they focus on what looks good on them and make that their “thing”.

Heating their hair every day

They used to love straighteners, curling irons, and blow-dryers. A lot of women stop heat styling on a daily basis and let their hair breathe and look more natural, which is also generally much healthier for their hair.

Wearing high heels all the time

Beauty is pain, right? Wrong. After 35, women often cut down on high heels in favor of more comfortable shoes and only wear stilettos for special occasions.

Not wearing sunscreen

They may have shrugged it off in their 20s. But now sunscreen is a non-negotiable part of their routine, no matter the season.

Remember when you were convinced your skincare should be a 12-step routine because it just sounded like too much fun? As they age, many women stick to fewer products, better quality, and consistency.

Not hydrating enough

After 35, a lot of women focus more on moisturizing their skin and drinking more water rather than endlessly chasing the next “miracle” skincare product. A hydrated face is a happy face, right?
