7 signs of fake friends

Friendship is one of the most important relationships in our lives. Friendships bring joy and friends are always supposed to be there with you; But even among friends, there can be betrayal.

Some friends may always be with you when your life is going well, but they all disappear when you are in trouble. Some friends may also bring many problems to your life. These types of friends are not true friends.

In this list, we will explore seven signs of fake friendships in life.  If you notice these signs in your friends, be careful around them.

They Only Reach Out When They Need Something

A true friend will be by your side no matter what, not only in times of need. Fake friends call or text only when they need something from you.

This can be a ride, request for help, or just attention. They vanish when things are good and then, when they need help, they reappear all of a sudden.

They Constantly Put You Down

A real friend lifts you up; a fake one always brings you down. They might joke about your appearance, talents, or decisions. But their words leave a sting.

These comments are meant to make them feel better about themselves by making you feel smaller. All these small digs will eventually take a toll on your self-confidence as time goes by.

They Talk Behind Your Back

Another tell-tale sign of a fake friend is when you realize they have been bad-mouthing you behind your back. They never deal with any issue with you directly; instead, they run to others to spread gossip.

This can harm your reputation and credibility. Real friends take their problems to you and won’t act as a source of drama.

They’re Never Happy for Your Success

A true friend celebrates your wins. Fake friends might make you think that your success is smaller than it actually is. Or they might show jealousy.

If you tell them something exciting, they’ll either act uninterested or make snarky comments. They appear to resent your joy or success.

They Don’t Support You Genuinely

Even though fake friends might act like they support you, this does not mean that their actions match their words. They are quick to tell you that they have your back but when the time comes, they run and hide.

They might suddenly back out of plans or fail to support you when you need help. So, you begin to feel like they are not really there for you.

They Make Everything About Themselves

A conversation with a fake friend is always about them. Even when you are the one facing difficult times, they manage to make it about them.

It’s hard to get a word in because they dominate the conversation. Real friends listen and show interest in your life, not just their own.

They Always Change their Nature

False friends behave differently; they adapt their behavior depending on who is with them. They may behave one way when it is just the two of you but in a completely different way with a group.

You never really know where you stand with these people; it is infuriating. A real friend is always there for you without fail, no matter the situation.
