Some elements that seemed important in the past are gradually becoming less significant. New technology and altered behaviors are decreasing the use of old techniques and things. It is always interesting to notice how fast things change and what is becoming history. The usual can turn into the past when innovations come along and offer people more comfortable solutions.
Reflecting on these changes can be a nice trip down memory lane but it also shows how the world is growing. A lot of the things we valued at one time are being replaced by new ones – Here are 10 of these items.

Physical Books

In the present time, more and more people use eBooks and audiobooks rather than the traditional paper ones. Technology allows you to have a thousand books in your hand. Although, there is something special about the touch & feel of a paper book that cannot be replaced, digital books are gaining more popularity.
Handwritten Letters

Few people write letters by hand anymore because everyone uses emails and messages. In the past, people used to take time and pen down their thoughts in form of notes with a touch of personalization. Today, people send short texts and emails for any and all reasons.

Hard Copy (CD’s DVD’s etc.)

We can see that CDs and DVDs are becoming almost obsolete in our lives due to improved streaming services. The ability to get music, movies and games online has made the physical discs less attractive to consumers. With streaming services granting users access to content at any time – it is not necessary to keep physical media around anymore. More and more people are vacating their shelves in order to have digital libraries.
Cash Payments

People are no longer using cash as much as they are using digital methods for payment. Credit cards, application, and wallets have made the process of paying for goods and services easier. Some people miss the feel of cold, hard cash but this change is more convenient and secure than having to carry cash around in hand.
Analog Clocks

Digital gadgets are taking over the traditional clocks, which were earlier used in all homes and offices. Now people use phones, computers and other devices to tell the time – which are always at hand. It’ll be surprising if kids growing up today can even tell time using Analog clocks in the near future.
Printed Photographs

The traditional form of photos that were part of every homes are gradually being replaced by digital form. The use of smart phones and cloud storage means that people are able to take and store hundreds and thousands of photos without ever having to print them out. Pretty soon, there will be no more printed photo albums in homes — just a couple of important photos on the wall & thousands of photos inside a computer or phone.
Manual Transmissions in Cars

Shifting through gears with a stick is slowly going out of fashion – as more and more cars come equipped with automatic gearboxes. It is rather easier to control the automatic vehicles versus manual cars – especially when in traffic. This make them more preferable for drivers.
Paper Maps

Maps on mobile devices and GPS devices are increasingly common, and fewer people use paper maps. Most of the people today use GPS apps to get directions on the road. Although paper maps give users a sort of retro feel, digital maps are easier to use and have more current information than the old paper maps.
