Most of us spend our time indoors, hunched over a desk, with heads stuck in computers or staring at TVs. With this type of lifestyle, it’s easy to feel disconnected from nature. However, reconnecting with nature brings a sense of peace and quiet into our lives.

One of the easiest ways to feel more connected is to take a walk in nature. You don’t need to go far. Walking in a park or simply in your backyard can do wonders to clear up your mind. Skip the phone and focus on the natural things in front of you – birds, leaves, and fresh air. With time, you will observe how these short walks will relax your mind and decrease stress.

Practice Meditation in Nature

Nature has the perfect setting for meditation. Just go somewhere secluded, maybe under a tree or by the riverside and stay there for 2 minutes. Just sit still and breathe. With your eyes closed, hear the sounds (the wind or birds) and feel how the air moves on your skin. This can quiet your thoughts and can make you feel more at peace with yourself.

Keep a journal with you, and write down your experiences out in nature. Take note of your observations – what do you see, hear, and feel on the daily walk/hike or just sitting outside. Over time, you’ll start to notice patterns and changes in your surroundings. This will help you understand nature and feel more connected.
