Everyone loves to relax and get lost in a world of fantasy for a couple hours by going to the movies. Whether with friends or family, or on a solo outing — this experience is an unforgettable one. While we all want to enjoy our movie, we should remember proper movie theater etiquette for the sake of others in there. All it takes is a little common courtesy and everyone in the audience will have a pleasant movie evening.
In this list, we will bring out 12 important rules of conduct everyone should follow while visiting a movie theater.

Silence Your Phone

Just before the movie begins, make sure to mute or even turn off your phone completely. If a phone starts to ring or if it starts to play some notification sound, everyone will be taken out of the movie — loud ringtones are not welcomed during a quiet scene. Go outside if you need to use your phone – Nothing is worse than a bright light or sound disturbing those around you.
Arrive on Time

Plan to arrive at the theater on time, so you won’t be disturbing the others. If you come late, it forces you to walk right in front of people who are already seated (blocking their view/forcing them to turn and watch you pass) – definitely shattering their concentration on what they were watching. Try to get there a bit prior so you have time to locate your seat, grab some snacks and acclimatize yourself before trailers begin.

Choose Your Seat Wisely

Do not sit directly next to someone especially if there are a lot of seats available. Some people like to have some space — leave a seat in between you and others when possible.
Keep Your Voice Down

Of course, you will have something to say on the movie or want to talk to your friends but please just do it softly. If you need to say something, whisper it and even then, only talk during the louder moments of the movie. Remember, this is a movie house, so be mindful of those around you as loud conversations can take the attention away from a film.
Limit Snack Noise

We all enjoy eating a little popcorn or candy when watching a movie, but try to make the noise level as low as possible. Now once the movie starts, make sure to open your wrappers before the previews even start. And just be conscious of taking a bite of really crunchy stuff, especially in quiet scenes.
Don’t Kick the Seat

Kicking or bumping the seat in front of you may disturb your neighbors. It is really annoying for the person sitting on it, even if it’s just light taps. So be respectful and try to keep your legs to yourself.
Avoid Taking Up Extra Space

Be thoughtful about the real space you are taking up. Simply keep your bag and other items on your lap or under the seat. Don’t let all your things spill over into someone else’s space.
Refrain from Spoilers

If you have already seen the movie, do not spoil any major scenes or plot points. Let your friends experience what is to be offered next.
Go to the Bathroom Before the Show

Also, try to use the bathroom before the movie starts. That way, you will not have to leave in the middle of the movie and annoy everyone around you. Or, if you really must leave, step out as softly as possible.
Don’t Be A Comedian

Films usually have emotional and serious scenes. During those scenes, you can show your reactions to yourself – but try not to become a comedian and pass loud comments to the whole hall. People are there to listen to the movie – not you.
Clean Up After Yourself

Remember to take your garbage with you when it’s over. Yes, it requires a bit of time and effort to do so, but it’s really nothing more than common courtesy. Place your trash in the bins to make it easier for cleaning crews when the next audience arrives.
Avoid Being Overly Sensitive to Others’ Reactions

We all respond to movies differently. Everyone laughs, cries, or gasps — that’s what makes it fun. Be prepared — there is a very good chance that the movie is going to affect you, but please do not try to judge others or put down the way others see the film.
