The shortest presidential term in U.S. history belongs to William Henry Harrison. After giving an epic inaugural speech in the cold of March 1841 (without a coat or hat), he caught pneumonia & passed away just 32 days later. Talk about bad luck.

Pedro Lascuráin (Mexico) – President for Just 45 Minutes?

On February 19, 1913, Pedro Lascuráin became Mexico’s president for just 45 minutes. It was all part of a coup, designed to make the power grab look lawful. He stepped down almost immediately to allow General Victoriano Huerta to take control.

Jean-Claude Duvalier (Haiti) – 15 Years in Power, but No Real Control

Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier took over Haiti’s presidency from his father in 1971. He ruled for 15 years, but corruption, human rights abuses & economic turmoil made his rule weak. Widespread protests drove him to escape to France by 1986.
