Not every gadget that sounds cool actually makes life easier. In fact, some of them are total junk that you never use, don’t need, or even make your life more complicated. They’re either overhyped, overengineered, or just plain useless, and they end up being more trouble than they’re worth. Here’s a list of gadgets that, honestly, are more hassle than help.

USB clock fans

It’s a cute little fan that uses LED clock numbers to hover in the air. It’s all great, until it dies, buzzes insanely, or blinds you while you work.
Phone screen magnifiers

These say they make your puny screen “cinematic.” But really, they just make everything blurry and distorted, and kind of give you a headache.
Smart water bottles

It’s only water, but now it wants to track your sips, glow at you, and ping your phone with reminders to hydrate. Half the time, you end up charging the bottle more than you drink from it.
Novelty smart toilets (the ones with way too many options)

A toilet that has a heated seat, plays music, has a nightlight, and 12 spray settings sounds interesting. But one wrong press, and you’re playing water gun!
Smart forks

It vibrates if you’re eating too fast, but really, who wants a fork telling them off while they chew? Plus, it’s just one more thing to charge.
Entry level robotic vacuums

They’re adorable until they start bumping into furniture, getting lost under the couch, or just going in circles. You still have to vacuum behind them anyway. You’re better off spending the money on one that works.
Self-stirring mugs

The idea is cool, but a pain to clean out, and most have no power when it comes to actually stirring more than plain coffee. Also, a spoon does it way faster.
Bluetooth trackers with really limited range

They are perfect when you lose your keys. But they often disconnect, or beep when you’re not looking for them, so you can’t tell if they’re trying to help, or just taunting you.
Small portable solar powered phone chargers

The concept is great, but in practice, they take forever to charge your phone. They usually need a lot more direct sunlight than you’re able to get.
Digital picture frames (low-res or complicated setup)

This sounds like a great gift, but most of the cheap ones have low-quality screens and bulky apps that make it a nightmare to set up. Then they just end up on a shelf, unplugged.
Smart pens (that require special paper)

It’s cool until you realize you can’t use just any old notebook. And the special paper is much more expensive than it should be. Syncing your notes is usually a chore as well.
WiFi enabled kettles

Why do you need to download an app just to boil water? By the time you open the app, connect it, and set the temperature, you could’ve just used the buttons.
“Smart” kitchen appliances (with little actual smart functions)

A fridge that projects recipes on the wall, or an instant pot that syncs to your phone? They look cool, but in practice, most of the features are just duplicating what your phone or a piece of paper already does.
Pocket portable showers

They’re great in theory (for camping, etc. ). But then you realize it barely holds any water, has lousy pressure, and you’re cold by the time you’re done.
Bluetooth toasters (This is very similar photo to the kettle above)

All that fancy tech, and it still takes the same amount of time for toast to finish, AND you still have to stand there. Also, who wants to control toast from an app?
Dyson air-purifying headphones

These are headphones that filter the air around your mouth and nose. At first, it sounds futuristic, and you want them for that. But you try wearing them for a while, and it just feels silly, bulky, and expensive.
Early generation AI chat companions

It’s a cool concept that’s just not there yet. They do have some limited personality, but they also glitch out a lot, misunderstand you, or don’t really offer half the features that they say they do.
Egg cookers (beyond basic models)

Basic egg cookers are fine, but the fancier ones with 10+ settings, timers, and poaching trays get ridiculous. You end up overthinking breakfast when boiling eggs on the stove would’ve been way easier.
