Breakfast looks a little different in many McDonald’s locations in Hawaii as instead of the usual sausage & biscuit, they’ll give you a Spam and Rice breakfast. The meal includes slices of Spam, scrambled eggs & steamed white rice, which comes from the island’s love for Spam—it has been a staple in Hawaiian cuisine since World War II! As such, anyone visiting Hawaii may start their day with this local favorite that they won’t find on the mainland.
Whataburger’s Green Chile Double (New Mexico)

Many Whataburger restaurants in New Mexico and other Southwestern states added some heat to the menu with the Green Chile Double—a burger that comes with two beef patties, melted American cheese & a generous helping of roasted green chiles. The green chile is quite popular in New Mexican cuisine and gives the burger a unique flavor that’s both spicy & savory. Unfortunately, it’s not available anymore but maybe they’ll bring it back to New Mexico one day.

It’s a spicy and satisfying meal that’s a sign of Texans’ love for bold flavor so the next time you’re in the Lone Star State, stop by a DQ for this regional specialty. Sonic’s Pickle-O’s (Select Southern States)

Certain Sonic Drive-In locations in the South have Pickle-O’s on the menu—these are sliced pickles battered & deep-fried until crispy, served with a side of ranch dressing for dipping. They make a tangy and crunchy snack for many Southerners but sadly, they’re not on the menu at every Sonic. You should definitely try this tasty treat if you’re lucky enough to find them.
McDonald’s Lobster Roll (New England)

During the summer, McDonald’s restaurants in New England serve up a Lobster Roll that’s made with 100% North Atlantic lobster meat, lightly tossed with mayonnaise & served on a toasted roll—it’s a taste of local seafood at a fast-food price. But don’t expect to find this Lobster Roll outside the Northeast!

Hardee’s in Southern states have the Pork Chop ‘N’ Gravy Biscuit for breakfast and this hearty item includes a seasoned, breaded pork chop smothered in sausage gravy—all tucked away inside a freshly baked biscuit. You can’t get more Southern comfort food than this filling meal & anyone traveling through the South might come across this satisfying option. It’s not something you’ll get at Hardee’s locations elsewhere so you should definitely try it.
Taco Bell’s Chili Cheese Burrito (Midwest and Southern U.S.)

Taco Bell fans who live in parts of the Midwest & the South are able to enjoy the Chili Cheese Burrito, which wraps spicy chili & melted cheese inside a warm flour tortilla—it’s simple yet also delicious! But only those in the Carolinas are able to try this local twist on the classic Wendy’s fare!
Chick-fil-A’s Cheese Sauce (Select Locations)

Chick-fil-A has a special Cheese Sauce as a dipping option—but it’s only available in select locations across the country. This creamy sauce is perfect for dipping your waffle fries or chicken nuggets, even though it’s only available at about 436 Chick-fil-A locations. These stores are primarily in the Midwest and Northeast so don’t miss the chance to try it when you’re there!
