10 biblical prophecies many believers see as fulfilled

The Bible has made a lot of prophecies and it turns out some of these prophecies have actually come true. The proof isn’t just based on faith alone but also on solid historical & archaeological evidence. Here are ten fulfilled biblical prophecies that actually came true. They’re quite the head-turners.

Tyre’s Downfall

Tyre was once a bustling place for trade that was known far and wide. The prophet Ezekiel said it would be destroyed & forgotten and guess what? Alexander the Great came along in 332 BC to wipe it out. Now all that’s left are some old stones & broken walls. While people tried to rebuild it, it never returned to its former glory.

Jews Return Home

In the Bible, the prophet Jeremiah predicted that the Jewish people would return to their homeland after being scattered across the world. Fast forward to 1948 and Israel officially became a country again, with Jewish people from all over coming back. Now that’s what we call a long-term plan.

Babylon’s Big Fall

Back in the day, Babylon was the equivalent of a modern superpower but prophets like Isaiah & Jeremiah predicted its downfall. Sure enough, the Persians took over in 539 BC and Babylon became just another archaeological site in Iraq. What’s the lesson from this? Well, that even the greatest among us can fall.

Jerusalem’s Rocky Road

Another major prediction was that Jerusalem would face tough times but never totally fade away. Despite being attacked & destroyed over the centuries, it’s still around today and hasn’t lost any of the history or life that made it such a great city. It’s the city that just refuses to give up no matter what.

Jericho’s Walls Come Tumbling Down

Joshua predicted Jericho’s walls would fall without a fight and archaeological evidence seems to suggest something weird happened; the walls fell outward. For a siege, that’s pretty unusual because you would think that the walls would’ve fallen inward if they were attacked from the outside. Maybe what Joshua said had some truth to it.

Egypt’s Ghost Towns

Ezekiel wasn’t too optimistic about Egypt’s cities, claiming that places like Thebes & Memphis would end up deserted. He wasn’t wrong. Today, these once-mighty cities have become mere tourist spots with ruins to show for their past and this pretty much lines up with the gloomy prophecy.

A King Goes Mad

Daniel said Nebuchadnezzar would be mentally unstable for seven years and historical records hint that the mighty king of Babylon might have really had a major mental breakdown. This is a slightly more personal prophecy that seems to have come true. Who knew these old stories could be so human?

The Fading Power of Edom

You might not hear much about Edom these days and that’s almost exactly what the prophet Obadiah predicted. The city was once known for its tough terrain & strong people yet Obadiah predicted it would end up weak and insignificant. Today, the place where Edom once was has little political or historical weight; just as the prophecy foretold.

Persia’s Rise Predicted

Isaiah was right on the money when he predicted a ruler named Cyrus way before Cyrus was even born. He foretold that Cyrus would also rise to power & free the Jewish people from Babylonian captivity. Lo and behold, Cyrus the Great showed up to do exactly that; and even helped them return to rebuild Jerusalem.

The Unchanging Word

Isaiah made another prediction that the grass would wither and the flowers would fade, but the word of God would stand forever. Fast forward thousands of years and the Bible is still one of the best-selling books of all time. Whether you’re a believer or not, the staying power of these words is kind of a big deal.
