11 beautiful orange cat breeds

Orange cats are beloved for their vibrant coats. This bold orange shade (also sometimes called ‘ginger’ or ‘red),  creates a wide range of color combinations and distinctive feline personalities.

You might want a small orange ball of soft fur, a leggy big-eared cat, or a slender one-of-a-kind, there’s likely an orange breed with the qualities you seek.

In this list, I will share with you 11 gorgeous orange cat breeds that could make your home a happy heaven.

Maine Coon

The Maine Coon is one of the largest and most recognizable breeds of cats. Their fur is soft and thick which makes them perfect for colder climates, and they have one of the longest tails of any breed with their shaggy, fluffy fur.

Plus they frequently have the orange tabby pattern which makes them extra adorable. Maine Coons are dog-like pets; they get along well with most people, kids & other pets.

Persian

Orange Persians (often described as red or cream) have a fascinating appearance. This cat breed requires daily grooming to keep its hair soft, but they are good-natured and usually have a calm & relaxed personality. A Persian thrives in a quiet household and mostly appreciates pampering; an ideal house cat.

British Shorthair

British Shorthairs have roundish faces with soft, short fur. They look dignified, even a little serious. A particularly striking version is the orange tabby with glowing amber eyes. They are independent cats but still very affectionate. They are almost as happy left alone as they are in a busy household with other pets.

Siamese (Red Point)

I like red Siamese cats because they have reddish-orange points on their tail, face, ears and feet.  They also have short, muscular bodies and beautiful blue eyes.

They are very talkative and they can have strong bonding relations with their owner,  loving attention very much. Siamese cats are also very playful and energetic, so if you can spend time playing with them, a Siamese cat would be a perfect pet for you.

Bengal

Bengals are the little brothers of leopards. You’re immediately drawn to their distinctive spotted or marbled coats. Some even have a slight orange hue, while others are found in deep orange or red shades.

Bengals are also frantic climbers and need a house full of ledges and shelves to drag themselves around on.

Scottish Fold

What is a Scottish Fold? In case you didn’t know, a Scottish Fold is a breed of cat known for having folded ears and a keen round face.

They come in all colors and shades from orange tabby to ginger to red. They are sweet & calm cats, suited for a quiet household. They have large eyes and look almost owlish.

American Bobtail

The American Bobtail is affectionately known as ‘the dogs of the cat world’ as a result of their genetically fastidious playfulness and trainability. They’re popular family members with a lean, wiry frame, and a long, flowing tail trailing behind them. They enjoy traveling and their playful, laid-back attitude is always ready for fun or a new adventure.

Norwegian Forest Cat

Norwegian Forest Cats have a double wooly coat that lets them withstand harsh weather. Their powerful bodies are sturdy and muscular, while their tails are fuzzy and bushy.

The Norwegian Forest Cat appears wild, but in reality, these cats are highly affectionate. They tend to enjoy lying in the sun and often get along well with other household pets. Norwegian Forest Cats have an orange tabby coat with red and gold markings, which makes them look really majestic.

Ragdoll

Ragdolls are known for their loose-limbed, easy-going attitude; they flop into your arms like a baby when you pick them up and are happy to just follow you around the house. Most are lightly-colored, though variations do include ginger and cream. A Ragdoll is a lazy lap cat who’ll suit anyone who wants a cuddly, low-energy feline.

Turkish Van

Turkish Vans with their long powerful limbs are an auction highlight. They have white fur with patches of color, occurring usually on the head and tail; orange being, perhaps, the most spectacular color.

Turkish Vans are famous for their affection for water, and they are proficient swimmers. Physically active and playful, the Turkish Van will constantly demand toys that will challenge their intelligence.

Somali

The Somali is basically the longhaired Abyssinian. It has a thick bushy tail and reddish-orange fur, which gives it a fox-like appearance. Somali is an active, inquisitive and people-oriented breed.

They require brushing regularly; the gorgeous coats reward the work. Somalis adjust to all kinds of homes but will do best where they are provided with lots of love and attention.
