1. Cargill
Most Americans have never bought anything directly from Cargill, yet the agricultural giant generates roughly $160 billion in annual revenue. The company touches everything from grain and livestock to food ingredients and global commodity trading.
2. Koch
Koch generates about $125 billion in annual revenue through businesses spanning chemicals, paper products, manufacturing, software, and energy. Many consumers use its products daily without realizing it.
3. Mars
Known for M&M’s and Snickers, Mars has quietly expanded far beyond candy. The company now owns major pet-care, food, and snack brands and generates roughly $50 billion to $55 billion in annual revenue.
4. Publix
Publix operates primarily in the Southeast, yet the employee-owned supermarket chain generates more than $57 billion annually. That places it among the largest private companies in America.

Formerly known as Enterprise Holdings, the company behind Enterprise, National, and Alamo rental cars produces roughly $38 billion in annual revenue. Many people underestimate how large the vehicle rental business has become.
6. Fidelity Investments
Fidelity manages trillions of dollars in customer assets and generates more than $28 billion in annual revenue. Despite its size, it receives far less public attention than many Wall Street firms.
7. Bechtel
Bechtel isn’t a consumer brand, but it remains one of the world’s largest engineering and construction companies. The privately held firm generated more than $58 billion in revenue in 2024 through major infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects.
