12 things women hate about themselves that men actually love

While some women may spend years trying to hide certain details about themselves, it turns out a lot of guys actually like these things about them.

The stomach that refuses to stay flat

It’s kind of hard for a woman to ignore her own soft stomach, especially after she decides hers is ‘supposed’ to be flatter. She’ll notice it when she’s sitting down and after dinner, basically everywhere. But men don’t study her little curve with the same seriousness.

Turns out, a lot of men are attracted to a woman’s softness. They like it when this softness fits naturally with the rest of how her body is shaped, and they don’t think her body needs to look firm from every angle. It’s still attractive.

The thighs that take up more room

Thick thighs have a way of making shopping annoying, as your jeans might fit at the waist but become a struggle farther down. Let’s not forget how the shorts ride up. It’s enough to make a woman hate her thick thighs entirely, although that fullness might be what a guy likes.

It’s not even a recent thing. No, guys have loved curvier legs for thousands of years because, well, ‘smaller’ doesn’t have to equal better. The changing room might make a woman hate her thighs, but a lot of guys actually love them.

The freckles she keeps covering

The thing with freckles is that they tend to appear exactly where a woman’s foundation is supposed to create an even surface. That’s probably why so many women hate having them. Yes, they’ll do their best to cover these little dots up, even though a lot of guys actually like them.

Freckles really make a woman’s face look more individual. That’s a good thing. These little irregularities remove the polish, and most guys don’t see them as imperfections. They think they belong on her face. They’re what make her her, and guys wouldn’t have it any other way.

The nose she thinks dominates her face

Stare too long in a mirror, and even the smallest of noses looks a lot bigger, or too curved. Maybe it’s just too present on a woman’s face. The thing is, though, women tend to be way harder on singular features, like their noses, than guys are.

A bigger nose can give a woman’s face more character and usually goes along well with the rest of her features. There are guys who prefer smaller noses, of course. But you’ll find that most men don’t really care because they know that faces work as a whole.

The hair that won’t behave

Curly hair might fall perfectly one day, but the very next, it’s decided to live its own life. Kind of annoying, really. Many women with naturally curly or wavy hair may feel like they have to straighten it because they want to look more put together. They think smooth hair gives them that look.

Yet men aren’t going to think a woman is messy when they see her curls. There’s actually something about that sort of unruly hair that makes a woman look more relaxed and more willing to be herself. That’s certainly attractive.

The little space in her smile

It’s true, any woman who has a tiny gap between her front teeth probably thinks it’s huge. She might think the gap stands out in every photo, and struggle to accept that part of her. But guys see something completely different.

They see a smile that’s recognizable immediately, and that’s a good thing. Small tooth gaps, especially ones in the front teeth, are often viewed as attractive. They don’t automatically ruin a smile, far from it, actually. Perfectly aligned teeth look way too perfect to be real.

The lines that appear when she laughs

So many women treat their laugh lines as something to be embarrassed of. They see them as signs that they’re getting older, and they’ll do whatever they can to hide them. But they’re normal. Completely normal.

A real smile pulls at the skin around the eyes and creates little creases. A lot of guys know this, and they’re not repulsed by these ‘wrinkles.’ They might actually take them as a sign this woman enjoys herself a lot, and there’s really nothing more attractive than that.

The face she sees before coffee

Breaking news, nobody looks like a model first thing in the morning. You wake up with faint pillow marks and sleepy eyes, along with some puffiness, and many women hate that. They think they look terrible before they’re ready for the day.

But the truth is, the man beside her probably doesn’t even register any of that as a problem. He just sees it as the unfiltered version of her, and that sense of unpreparedness is actually quite intimate.

The voice that sounds rougher after waking

Mornings have a strange effect on a woman’s voice, too. Their voice may sound completely different in the early hours, maybe lower or softer. They might sound slightly scratchy. Many women hate it because they think their morning voice is unfeminine or unpolished.

Yet a man hearing it may see it quite differently, as breathier voices are often quite attractive. There’s something about that half-awake sound that has a kind of closeness to it. It’s private and unglamorous.

The dents beside her hips

‘Hip dip’ is probably the most unflattering name for a body part. They’re the slight inward curves you get because of your bone structure and the way your body sits around the pelvis. Many women think they’ve got to somehow ‘fix’ this part of their body.

Guys don’t. Men usually look at the entire body shape anyway, and they’re not hyperfocused on two small indentations that may or may not exist on a woman’s body. They know human hips aren’t drawn with a ruler, and that curves don’t need to run in one perfect line.

The curves that look bigger beside her friends

One group photo is all it takes for a woman’s self-esteem to plummet. She’s standing next to two women with narrower hips, so she starts comparing herself and thinking that she looks a lot bigger than them. She hates that.

But men aren’t comparing a woman to her friends, and they’re not thinking about her size in relation to them. They care about her, and her alone. How her friends look isn’t important, and men love the fact that she’s unique.

The face underneath all the makeup

A woman takes off her makeup and she thinks her whole face has changed. She notices how her eyes look smaller, and her skin isn’t one even color. She hates it. Men, however, aren’t going to react the same way, and that’s because many of them prefer less makeup.

Studies show that men think that a woman’s bare face looks softer and more familiar, rather than unfinished. They’re attracted to the version of her that’s not prepared for photos or anybody else. It’s just her face, and really, that’s not a downgrade.
