12 health trends only the rich can afford

There’s a lot of wellness stuff online. And a lot of it is cool to look at, but impossible to actually do unless you have a pretty full wallet. This goes beyond green juice or fancy yoga mats. We spoke to some of our readers, and here are twelve health trends they reckon only work if you’re rich. Which ones would you like to try?

Some people get a yearly scan that checks everything in their bodies. It’s quite literally from head to toe. They’ll spend a few hours in a machine & get a bill that’s enough to buy them a new designer couch. Sure, doing it once is fine. But every year? You’ll need a lot of money to do that, not to mention a lot of free time. It’s not for everyone.

Therapeutic plasma exchange

This sounds like something from a sci-fi film. Therapeutic plasma exchange involves running your blood through a machine & having the plasma swapped out. It’s then sent back inside you. One session can cost as much as a used car, and you’ll have to keep coming back for more. These places aren’t exactly on every corner, either. You’ll be flying in just to get poked.

Overseas mesenchymal stem-cell trips

Mesenchymal stem-cell trips aren’t your standard clinic visits. You go on a plane to another country to get infusions that aren’t approved at home. As for the tab? It’s usually five figures, and that’s not counting the trip. It’s hardly something you can just fit in after work.

NAD+ IV drip series

Some rich people will sit with an IV for hours while getting an expensive vitamin blend dripped into them. And they’ll do it every week. For several months. This kind of treatment will leave you out hundreds, sometimes more, each time, and you’ll need big portions of your day free. It’s certainly not the kind of habit you keep on a tight budget. If at all.

Whole-body red light therapy at home

Some people don’t want to drive to a spa to get red light therapy. Instead, they install the entire setup at home & that usually means huge glowing panels. They might even get a bed the size of a tanning booth. The cost is shockingly high & that’s before you even hire someone to wire it all in. Is it worth it?

Private whole-body cryotherapy chambers

You can forget about standing in line at a wellness studio. The ultra-rich have their own freezing pods at home that are cooled with liquid nitrogen or high-end electric systems. As for the price for one? Let’s just say you could send a kid to college for a semester. Maybe two. The upkeep’s not cheap either, so it’s entirely reserved for the rich. Lucky them.

In-home altitude training rooms

Altitude training rooms are where people literally change the oxygen level in a room. This way, it’s like being on a mountain, with all the benefits that come from that. You can sleep & run in there. You can even cycle. But the generator alone costs thousands, and converting an actual room for this is hardly cheap.

Elective microbiome transplants abroad

Why get an average stomach treatment when you can get an elective microbiome transplant? Simply book a trip overseas & go through multiple days of procedures. Then, you pay for highly screened donors. The cost stacks up quickly between the program and the travel. Oh, and the follow-ups. You’ll easily be paying five figures for something like this.

High-cost fertility preservation add-ons

Egg freezing by itself is pricey, but wealthy clients usually include extras. These include lab testing & extra cycles, as well as experimental treatments. One round usually costs more than a luxury vacation. And that’s before you add storage fees. When you’re rich, you’re ready to pay anything to create a legacy for yourself.

Personalized genetic wellness retreats

You’re not simply going to get a smoothie on these wellness retreats. No way. They’ll swab your cheek & draw a lot of blood, then run tests you’ve probably never heard of. The week’s planned from there. It’ll likely include meals made by chefs and treatments from on-call specialists, as well as schedules packed with one-on-one sessions. They’re pretty pricey.

At-home floatation therapy pods

Not everyone wants to drive to a wellness center. Especially not rich people. They’d rather skip the middleman & get their own float pod installed, which usually involves tearing up part of the house. They’ll add plumbing and keep the water perfectly balanced. The cost of the gear? A fortune. You also have to pay for upkeep so it doesn’t turn into a giant bathtub.

Private thermal mineral pools at home

Pools with a heater are for regular people. For rich people, private thermal mineral pools are the way to go, since they’re built to stay at just the right temperature & filled with mineral-rich water. These come only from specific sources. You need a system to control heat and balance minerals, plus staff to keep everything running. It’s a lot.
