You have not achieved success in your life? You are stuck in one place like a hamster on its wheel? You work hard? You make plans? You do your best and nothing happens?
It could be that you have bad habits or your behavior is preventing you from moving forward. Remember, It doesn’t matter what you do or don’t do, what does matter is what you get done. Stress is generated by the gap between one’s desire for something and the lack of ability or willingness to achieve it.
Change starts by recognizing what is holding you back. Read on to see how many of these bad habits or misguided behaviors are keeping you stuck so you can adjust and begin to move forward.
Procrastinating

Although procrastinating can feel nice when you’re doing it, it loops back to bite you later.
With procrastination, things keep piling up, and the pile grows larger, and the stress builds; all of which has a bad effect on the quality of your work because you’re rushing to get it done.
It also causes you to stop making progress. If you can’t make progress, you can’t go anywhere. Progress is key for success, but procrastination slams the brakes on your goals.
Overthinking

No one wants to make the wrong choice, but sometimes trying too hard to be 100 per cent certain can leave you stuck.
When you spend too much time analyzing and deliberating in your own head, you can miss out on opportunities because you’re more concerned with thinking than doing.
It slows down your momentum and makes it more difficult for you to take action. Sometimes, it’s better (but not always) to simply make a decision than to wait for the problem to resolve itself and the right choice to become perfectly clear.
Fear of Failure

The fear of failure can prevent you from attempting new things. If you’re terrified of making mistakes, you might not even try. This fear can limit your development, as you’re not testing or challenging yourself in new ways.
Many times success comes from experimenting, learning from mistakes, and growing. If fear is dictating your life, you might miss out on experiences that can help you succeed.
Lack of Discipline

There are no short-cuts to success. Success demands time and practice. If you are having difficulty keeping to a routine or not giving up when it gets tough, it can slow you down.
Doing what needs to be done, even when you don’t feel like it, is what it means to be disciplined.
Without discipline, you find yourself falling victim to the latest distraction. Discipline also keeps you focused or helps in the development of habits in everyday behavior towards achieving your goals.
Negative Self-Talk

What you say to yourself matters. If you say ‘I can’t,’ or ‘I’m not good at’ or ‘I’m not qualified,’ that’s exactly how you feel.
It contributes to spreading a web of doubt and you don’t feel good about yourself. That’s why negative self-talk can hold you back from going after something.
You don’t think you deserve it, or you don’t think it’s for you, or you don’t think you have what it takes. Changing negative thoughts to positive ones can often improve your confidence.
Not Setting Clear Goals

If you don’t know what you’re trying to achieve, you’re unlikely to go in any specific direction.
If you don’t have a map, you could end up wasting lots of time aimlessly hopping around. Having clearly defined, achievable goals gives you focus.
Having measurable goals allows you to identify whether you’re on track or not, which can help to maintain your motivation.
Being Easily Distracted

There are many things that get in our way of doing our important work. One is distractions.
Oo, another email message, let me see what that says. Oo, there’s a tweet, Uh-oh — a text just came in.
If you’re spending even a little bit of time on something that’s not your priority, you actually cut into time that you otherwise would have used to make progress toward your goals.
Avoiding Hard Work

It is not easy to make it to the top and if you are always looking for shortcuts, you might not go the extra mile.
The unwillingness to make things hard for yourself will keep you where you are. Working hard to achieve your goals, even when it’s hard to do so, will take you where you are supposed to go.
Not Asking for Help

Trying to do everything on your own can slow you down. I don’t believe anyone knows everything about everything, and sometimes the best approach to a problem is to reach out to another person.
If you are unable to ask for another person’s input, experience or advice, you might also miss alternate paths, possible shortcuts, mistakes to avoid or accelerants toward success.
The nature of success is often collaborative. Asking others can open another avenue for you to explore.
Comparing Yourself to Others

There is no shortage of people who can make you think you’re not actually doing enough. This comparison can feel like an indictment, a grounding of worthlessness, a failure.
What works for them might not work for you, however. Way too much focus on the activities of others displaces one’s own sense of progression.
Lack of Confidence

One thing you should do to be successful is to have confidence in yourself. Without having confidence, it makes it hard to try things, as well as getting out of your comfort zone.
Without confidence you will second guess the moves you make and get stuck where you are in life. Sometimes it’s best to believe in yourself and take educated risks to succeed.
