11 things foolish men do that smart women always notice before it’s too late

The most foolish men tend to give themselves away through the little things they do, but the thing is, most women are smart enough to notice what they’ve done wrong.

Attention goes to his head

A woman flirts with him once. Now he’s acting like he’s been elected president. Being wanted feels good, of course it does, but the problem is with some guys who mistake that for respect. They think that being wanted means someone respects his judgment or trusts him.

They think it makes them impressive outside that moment. It doesn’t. Foolish men blur the two, and smart women don’t. Yes, smart women can enjoy someone’s company and still notice when a guy’s treating attraction like proof that everything else about him must be great too. That’s not true.

The joke only works one way

She might love old movies, or maybe she knows way too much about Formula 1. Whatever it is, a foolish man hears something he doesn’t personally understand. Then he makes it the punchline. Foolish guys mock another person’s interests because they don’t understand them.

Smart women can see that, and they recognize the difference between harmless teasing and someone who makes unfamiliar interests look stupid. It’s a different story, however, when the interest belongs to someone he wants to impress. Then the jokes disappear. How strange.

He thinks he’s too clever to catch

Some of the most foolish guys are also master manipulators, and they usually have one problem. They think they’re much better at manipulation than they are. So they’ll change the story slightly and alter the reason, making sure to keep themselves in the right.

They assume that they’re more intelligent, and that other people won’t notice their manipulation. But smart women do. They may not call him out immediately because, really, there’s no need, yet she knows what’s up.

The voice matters more than the idea

A woman explains something she knows well. Then he interrupts and questions it. Maybe he’ll barely listen to her. But when another man says almost the same thing, this guy’s now all ears and very interested. The other man’s point is valid now, somehow.

A lot of smart women notice these sorts of patterns because they’ve dealt with them enough times. They notice the change in attention. They notice how some guys treat the same idea from a different speaker as something entirely new.

Courtesy suddenly has conditions

A lot of smart women pay attention to how a guy talks about women he’s not interested in. It’s where foolish men get very careless. Yes, foolish guys may be charming around women they find attractive, but when it comes to someone older or less attractive, they change.

That tells a smart woman all she needs to know about how a guy sees women. A guy doesn’t need to find everyone attractive, of course. But the issue is that basic manners shouldn’t depend on whether he wants something from the person.

Yesterday’s certainty came from someone else

We all get influenced by our surroundings, and we can’t help it. It’s the foolish men, however, who rely on others to give them opinions, instead of forming them themselves. They’ll need a podcast to tell them how they feel about a subject.

They’ll borrow views from a friend because having an answer feels better than admitting they haven’t thought about it. Smart women see right through that. Most of the time, they can tell when a guy’s sense of confidence is greater than his understanding.

Nobody hears about his indifference more than everybody

Some guys claim they don’t care what anyone thinks. That’s fine. The problem is with guys who keep repeating it and constantly make sure everyone else knows just how little they care. Sure. Foolish men perform indifference because they want people to admire them.

They want people to think they’re above approval, which, ironically, is a sign that they’re desperate for it. Smart women can see the contradiction, and they don’t need to point it out. The truth is, someone who truly doesn’t care won’t need to tell people. They just behave unbothered.

Every disagreement becomes permanent

Foolish men have a way of turning temporary anger into permanent damage. They’ll block a friend who annoys them, and they’ll talk about a coworker being ‘dead to them’ because they had an argument. It’s all because winning feels more important than keeping the relationship intact.

Intelligent women are well aware of how quickly foolish men reach for the nuclear option. They pay attention to whether every disagreement becomes another burned bridge. You might be surprised at how often this happens.

Apparently everyone is exaggerating

The most foolish guys often have a problem with an expert. For example, you could tell them what the doctor said. Now they’ll have read three forums and know better. These guys don’t necessarily just question advice, but they assume anyone giving them inconvenient news is probably exaggerating.

Many smart women can recognize how selective that suspicion is. These sorts of men will agree with experts who tell them exactly what they wanted to hear. But when it’s something different, then the expert becomes a fraud. They’re an alarmist or completely clueless, apparently.

The expensive version wins again

Certain men are happy to spend $900 to make strangers think they have money. But they wouldn’t dare put that $900 somewhere that would actually leave them better off. These guys are foolish, simple as that.

They become so obsessed with looking successful that they, well, stop trying to be successful. A smart woman doesn’t need a man’s bank statements to notice there’s a contradiction. She sees it in his behavior. She can see when a guy’s really about his money, and when he’s focused on the image of it.

Her silence gets badly misread

Most foolish men seriously overestimate themselves around smart women. They assume that, since she’s not arguing, she’s not suspicious. They think no criticism means everything’s fine. But really, she may simply be watching what happens next.

Smart women aren’t going to waste time confronting every odd detail the second it appears, as they know the truth will come out eventually. They’re picking up on a lot more than a foolish guy realizes. He relaxes because he thinks the first story worked. It really didn’t.
