10 small comforts I appreciate more with age

Now that I’ve hit the big 6-0, I’ve started to really enjoy the small things that make every day a bit more special. They’re my way of making the most out of every day.

So, here are ten small luxuries that I’ve introduced into my life after turning sixty. Each one has made every day a little brighter; and a whole lot more enjoyable.

The Joy of a Good Brew

Each morning, I take the time to brew a really good cup of coffee and I only buy the good stuff now. Even if it costs a bit more.

Whether it’s a dark roast or a smooth herbal tea, this ritual starts my day on a high note because there’s nothing like holding a warm cup in your hands & taking those first slow sips. Trust me, a good brew will completely change your routine.

Skin Care That Cares

My bathroom cabinet now includes some skin care products that are a bit pricier than my old choices but they sure make a difference.

As our skin gets older, we deserve to give it some extra pampering and using creams & serums made for aging skin helps keep my face feeling hydrated. Just think of it like giving your skin a “thank you” for hanging in there all these years.

Pampering Myself with Wellness Treatments

I didn’t really care about going on regular visits to the spa for a massage or signing up for yoga classes before but I really do now. These wellness treatments help me relax & keep my body feeling limber.

Now that I’m older, I understand the importance of treating my body well so it’ll keep me going strong.

Walking on Clouds

I’ve ditched shoes that pinch and hello to ones that pamper. Finding shoes that fit like a glove & look good too has become a priority because I want to feel good as I walk, whether that’s through the park or while shopping downtown.

Comfortable & stylish footwear can truly improve your mood to keep you on your feet longer without any issues.

Fresh Flowers to Brighten the Day

There’s something about fresh flowers that just makes a house feel like a home which is why I love picking up a bunch of seasonal blooms from the market.

Sometimes, I’ll even treat myself to a flower subscription service. Fresh blooms add a little color & a breath of fresh air to my living space, refreshing my spirit every time I see them.

Luxury in the Sheets

Investing in top-notch bed linens was a decision I wish I’d made sooner. After all, getting into a bed decked out with soft, breathable sheets feels like a luxury each night, especially since good quality sleep is priceless.

Deluxe linens make it easier to drift off into dreamland; we definitely need that when we’re older.

A Dose of Art and Culture

Now that I have more free time, I care a lot more about soaking up some culture by spending a quiet afternoon at a museum or catching a live performance at the theater.

After all, these are experiences that feed my soul. Better yet, I’ve even signed up for art classes that have opened up new worlds for me.

Breakfast Out on the Town

There’s no rush these days so why not enjoy a slow breakfast at a local café once in a while? It’s a nice change from the usual breakfast routine at home and I get to try different foods.

It’s even better when you do it with friends and catch up with them but some solo time people-watching is also great.

Subscription to Audio Books

I’ve also bought a subscription to an audiobook service and it’s been fantastic. Listening to a good book is such a nice way to pass the time while I’m doing chores around the house or even just relaxing on the porch.

There’s a whole universe of stories & knowledge out there. And hearing them read aloud makes the experience more immersive.

Streaming TV Subscriptions

I’ll admit; I splurged and subscribed to three different streaming services. Movie nights have become a regular treat. Every week, I pick a new movie to watch, with a few classics thrown in here & there for good measure.

Grabbing some popcorn, dimming the lights, and letting myself get lost in a story are things I look forward to; they make it my time to unwind. Honestly, it feels like a mini-holiday in the middle of the week.
