Older women tend to bring a lot of special things to a relationship, and it mostly has to do with them performing less, but having more real-life experience to work with.
The temperature stays lower

Disagreements happen in every relationship. The difference with older women is that they don’t usually allow a small disagreement to turn into a whole event. No, they’re more emotionally stable and less likely to dwell on problems.
They’re going to have fewer knee-jerk reactions to negative situations. Don’t expect an older woman to sit there quietly while somebody annoys her, that’s not going to happen. But feel happy that she’s not going to let one bad mood take over the entire evening.
The wish list is clear

A woman who’s in her 60s or 70s is far less likely to pretend that every preference is negotiable. She’ll be specific about exactly what she wants from dating, and she’s not going to beat around the bush with it.
She’s probably going to be honest about companionship and affection. She’ll let you know straight-up what she thinks about intimacy because she actually knows what she wants. She’s not a 25-year-old who’s still figuring herself out.
There’s no required next step

Dating a young person sometimes feels like being on a conveyor belt because you’re meant to follow a certain order. Meet, date, move in, get married, combine everything, done. But older women are more likely than younger ones to look into alternative arrangements.
Living apart together is very much a possibility, for example. Older women don’t feel the pressure to follow the traditional relationship script, and that’s a good thing. Your relationship can develop in a way that you both feel comfortable with. There’s no acting.
She’s had time to become herself

It’s nice dating a person who already knows which version of herself she actually likes. You have a better sense of identity when you get older, especially when you’re middle-aged. You know who you are.
That means older women are less likely to experiment with their personality or priorities. Some change is to be expected, of course, but older women are less likely to change at the drop of a hat. They have a much better sense of self. That’s a good thing.
Two lives don’t have to become one

Younger couples learn this the hard way. Just because you’re in love doesn’t mean that you have to do everything together. You’re both entitled to have full schedules and friendships that don’t involve the other person. You can have your independence.
It’s honestly quite refreshing because it means you’re both able to do what you want, within reason. You’re not expected to be joined at the hip and go to things that you don’t want to be part of. Your separate interests remain just that, separate interests.
The old patterns are easier to spot

Experience isn’t magic or anything. It sure does give you material, though. Older women who have been through long relationships or divorces have had more chances to notice the stuff that slowly wears people down.
They know the problems of unequal housework and the issues with poor communication. They recognize how money can cause tension and how quickly resentment can build up. They know how to avoid it all. The truth is, older women are less likely to make the same mistake twice because they’ve had the time to learn what the problem is.
Being picky starts to make sense

There comes a point when ‘he seems nice enough’ doesn’t cut it anymore. Older women know all about that. They’ve usually had more time to figure out which traits actually matter to them, and they’re going to be more selective about them.
They have less of a reason to keep someone around just because dating again sounds exhausting. They’re more deliberate about choosing a partner because they can afford to be. Take it in a good way. It means she’s only going to be with you if she wants to. She’s not simply looking for comfort.
The lines can be easier to see

An older woman probably isn’t interested in vague arrangements by later adulthood. She’s not looking for a relationship where everybody is supposed to somehow ‘just know’ the rules, and she’ll look for something clearer.
She’ll want a relationship with clear boundaries. She’ll want a relationship that has a lot less of the drama, and a lot more of the honesty. Dating becomes a whole lot simpler around this type of woman, and that’s always a good thing.
The audience gets smaller

You can’t deny it. There’s a real sense of freedom in not needing your relationship to look impressive to anyone else, and it’s something pretty common among older women. They’re not interested in being in a relationship that ‘fits’ other people’s expectations.
They might do romance out of order. They might do things other people wouldn’t. That’s okay. Really, older women care more about whether the relationship actually feels good than whether the relationship looks good, as they’re not trying to impress. There’s a lot less performance.
Status isn’t as valuable

All that fancy stuff looks a bit decorative once you get to a certain age. Of course, a big salary and a nice job title are still good to have, but older women are often more interested in what a person’s actually like.
They prioritize companionship and affection over anything else. Younger people do care about those things, sure, but they’re more likely to sacrifice them for someone who’s got something shiny. When you’re with an older woman, you know it’s because she wants to be with you. There’s no other reason.
