You can identify a red flag dynamic early on by paying attention to how your partner navigates accountability, vulnerability and conflict.
One-sided vulnerability

If a woman is quick to ingest your secrets, previous pain, and insecurities but is reluctant to show you hers, then she’s taking advantage of your intimacy. She might listen to you rant about work stress or problems from your childhood at 2AM, pat you on the back and brush off any inquiries about her past with meaningless responses.
Early on, this often appears to be quiet confidence or her simply listening but you’re slowly creating a relationship where you’re vulnerable and exposed and she has zero vulnerabilities.
Strategic anger

Some women lash out with excessive anger over a trivial mistake you made that is completely unrelated to the situation at hand to deflect responsibility away from a larger problem.
For example, he calls her out on her overspending or gambling habits, and to deflect, she might explode in anger at him for showing up 10 minutes late to pick her up one time.
Suddenly, his insignificant mistake has turned into a huge issue that he must now defend himself from instead of her taking responsibility for the budget.
All for show

Valuing perception too highly often looks like over-posting of love declarations, relationship highlight reels, and grand gestures for friends, while being cold, detached, or business-like in private.
If she blatantly records an extravagant romantic gesture you planned for her anniversary to show her followers or posts loving captions about how you’re her “dream guy,” while she drives home with you silently, angrily scrolling through her phone, the facade of her relationship means more to her than intimacy.
Conditional affection

Trading warmth/physical touch/emotional availability for good behavior (or using its withdrawal as punishment when not getting their way about small things) amounts to emotionally blackmailing a partner into compliance.
She may smother you with love when everything goes her way, but reject your embraces and give you the cold shoulder when you decide to do something for yourself (say, read a book or work in the garden on a Saturday while she runs errands). Turning necessary love and warmth into negotiating pieces is no longer loving each other; it’s silently bribing.
Selective amnesia

Always lying about agreements, plans, or previous conversations when confronted is exhausting. She may have flat-out told you she would pay for something or meet you for something important with your family weeks ago. Then you ask her about it, and she stares at you with utter confusion and denies with 100% certainty that you never discussed it.
If she constantly tells you that something you both agreed on, a boundary you set, or a conversation you had never took place, you will always question yourself.
The squeaky-clean narrative

When a girl tells you that she’s always right in every situation (she’ll paint this narrative of herself being only treated poorly by crazy exes, toxic friends, unreasonable bosses, etc.), she has no ability to self-reflect on herself.
She’ll tell you long-winded tales of friendships from her past that ended when her friends would turn on her for no reason but jealousy, even though she didn’t do anything wrong. If her past has zero examples of her owning up to mistakes or growing as a person from a mistake, when things go wrong with you, they will always be your fault.
Weaponized incompetence

Playing dumb or incapable around simple chores, emotional labor, or joint responsibilities makes her partner have to do everything for her. She may mess up easy tasks around the house time and time again, botch simple plans, or say that she just sucks at remembering logistics and end up leaving it all to him.
Through pretending to be helpless, she places the responsibility of being an adult fully on her partner and cannot be blamed for not doing her fair share.
Trap questions

Testing her partner with loaded questions or hypothetical situations in order to gauge his attraction, love, or fidelity puts him on trial every day. “What if” questions like “Would you still love me if I gained 100 pounds?” or “Hey, be honest. Do you think my friend is prettier than me?” are designed in such a way that any answer other than the right one will set her off.
Even if he successfully navigates the mental minefield of her daily tests, there is still no trust, just insecurity.
Proxy conflict

Instead of talking to her partner about her issues, she may talk to others about them. Using others to criticize him, set boundaries, or vent frustration introduces a messy, triangular element.
She won’t say to him that she doesn’t like how he organizes his weekend plans; instead, she might mention that her mother/friend “thinks he’s selfish” and “finds it concerning.”
Shouldering her issues with others enables her to pile on the social pressure, while avoiding responsibility for her part in voicing the concern.
Financial double standards

Does she gets mad when you talk about splitting expenses or anything of the sort?
It’s foolish to want the man to be old-fashioned and pay for everything, while she acts like a modern independent woman the rest of the time. Expecting the man to spend his hard-earned money all the time and contributing nothing will make the relationship become about business, rather than teamwork.
