Most women go about their lives doing completely normal things, nothing flash or outrageous, yet they still manage to get under some men’s skin. Of course, it’s not all men, just the ones who haven’t figured themselves out yet. Here are thirteen women’s habits that intimidate insecure men. Do you know any men that these would bother?

She reads in public and doesn’t make eye contact
Some women like sitting in bars or coffee shops to read a book, and they’ll be completely locked into a novel with their headphones in & eyes down. They’re not there to be approached. However, such a clear sign that they don’t want to be interrupted often confuses insecure guys, who expect women to be open to conversation at all times. They can’t understand it.
She refuses to fake-laugh at unfunny jokes
Yes, she hears the joke, but she blinks and moves on, without any pity laughs or over-the-top smiles to simply make someone feel better. For guys who rely on those reactions to feel like they have some charm, this kind of reaction affects their sense of self. But this doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s being cold. She’s just honest, and what’s wrong with that?
She books solo vacations without over-explaining
This kind of woman isn’t making some grand statement because she just likes to explore. She’ll book a cabin in the mountains and go on a flight to Barcelona, perhaps even eat alone in a restaurant. And she’ll do it all without acting like it’s a big deal. However, this kind of independence upsets some men quite a bit because they don’t know how to respond.
She makes more money and doesn’t hide it
A lot of women refuse to share their salaries, nor do they pretend that they simply got lucky. Whenever they say they’ve signed a big client or been promoted, they’ll share it in the same tone someone else might say that they bought groceries, as they’re not trying to make it a big deal. That’s a huge hit to some men. Their paycheck is the biggest thing they bring to the table.
She keeps a detailed skincare routine without explaining it
Whether she uses cleanser, serum, toner, moisturizer, eye cream, face oil, or sometimes more, she does the routine by herself. There’s no need for commentary. Anytime that a guy tries to tell her that it’s “too much,” she doesn’t argue because she simply doesn’t care. She’s doing it for herself, not him, and that’s something that insecure guys simply don’t get.
She doesn’t fill awkward silences just to be polite
In those moments when the conversation hits a lull, confident women refuse to jump in and fill the air. Instead, they’re fine sipping their drink. They might simply relax in the quiet, and such behavior makes some men panic. They expect women to smooth things over and keep everything comfortable, but she’s not here for that.
She turns off her phone during personal time
During dinner, her phone’s off. When she’s going for a walk in the park, she leaves hers at home. It’s because she’s not glued to the screen, nor is she checking texts every ten minutes, as her goal isn’t to keep tabs on anyone. For some men, this kind of behavior makes them feel invisible, as they expect a woman to need them constantly.
She doesn’t comment on her body when eating
Confident women eat the cookie or the fries without apologizing or claiming it’s “so bad” for them. They won’t even mention calories or how they’ll “make up for it” later. However, some guys are used to women body-shaming themselves. It puts them off when a woman eats & moves on because they simply don’t know what to do in these situations. Do they react or not?
She doesn’t flirt back just to be nice
Guys tell her a cheesy line, but she refuses to give them a pity smile or politely flirt back. Instead, this kind of woman will say “no thanks” or perhaps ignore it altogether, which really upsets insecure guys. They think any attention they give a woman automatically means they should get some in return, meaning they’re intimidated when it doesn’t go that way.
She asks direct questions in group settings
Rather than trying to catch guys out, some women simply ask direct questions to understand a person or situation more. For example, they’ll ask things like “Why do you believe that?” in a way that’s meant to be curious instead of confrontational. But that doesn’t go down well with guys who are used to surface-level conversations. They often squirm under her attention.
She has strong female friendships
Many women have friends who’ve seen them ugly cry and held their hair back. They’ve psyched her up before job interviews, and know what her coffee order is every time. They’re not going anywhere. As such, any guy who comes along thinking he’ll be her whole world is in for a shock because she has friends who’re family. Nope, she’s not ditching them for anyone.
She dresses for herself
She’s not trying to impress you, so one day she’s wearing bold lipstick and leather boots, and the next, she’s wearing a hoodie three sizes too big. She’ll also have messy hair that she actually likes that way. Some women refuse to wait around for anyone to tell them about what’s flattering for their body, as they already know what they like. And that’s what they’re wearing.
She lets her body hair grow
Body hair isn’t always a huge political statement for some women, as sometimes they simply choose not to shave. Sometimes, their legs are smooth, and sometimes they’re not, which is because they’re not thinking about it that much. At least not as much as the guy staring at her armpits is. It’s hair, it grows, so move on.
