If you’re living life on the road, you’ll know that finding a good truck stop is a necessity, especially since not every place has what you need. Whether that’s clean bathrooms or decent food—perhaps even a place to park without doing laps—it’s not that easy to find a good chain. But ask enough truckers and a few names always come up, and here are ten chains that truckers rate the best. These places are definitely worth the stop.

Adventure-Themed Stores and Big Drink Options

Maverik has a strong following in the West, especially in states like Utah & Nevada, with many drivers enjoying its oversized drink stations. But let’s not forget their excellent burrito selection and quirky decor that feels more personal than corporate. Sure, their parking areas aren’t always huge, yet the stores themselves are clean and usually well-stocked—the Nitro card saves truckers a lot on fuel.
Clean Showers Without the Wait

One thing truckers won’t shut up about when it comes to Love’s is the showers because they’re squeaky clean and you don’t have to hang around waiting. Instead, you get a number and get pinged when it’s your turn—they also have hundreds of locations, so finding one isn’t too difficult, either. Some even sell fresh fruit and better snacks than you’d expect from a truck stop.
Sit-Down Meals In Rural Areas

A lot of places just throw you a burger and call it a day, but TA (TravelCenters of America) still gives you actual restaurants—like Iron Skillet, where someone refills your coffee & asks how your day’s going. That kind of sit-down meal is just what you need when you’ve been hauling for hours and just want to eat something off a plate instead of out of a bag. You might even find that some TA spots have fitness rooms or small movie lounges.
Big Rewards on Fuel For Regular Drivers

Thanks to Pilot Flying J’s rewards app, the more fuel you buy, the more free stuff you rack up, which could include showers & drinks—even parking in some places. That’s not bad when you’re filling a tank that holds 200 gallons, and they also have reserved parking options, which are useful if you’re running behind. If you’re lucky, you might be at a Flying J with decent hot food bars & strong Wi-Fi, two things that not every chain can say they have.
Fresh Food Options

While Kwik Trip/Kwik Star technically isn’t a full-service truck stop, truckers will still pull in just for the food because their culinary options go beyond crusty hot dogs. Think fresh sandwiches and coffee that doesn’t taste like burnt regret. You’ll find these mostly in the Midwest, and yes, people go out of their way to hit one, with some drivers picking them over other truck stops when they’re just looking for a quick bite & a clean bathroom. They also sell basic groceries.
Friendly Service

Walking into Sapp Bros. feels like being in a place where they actually want you. Yes, it’s old-school & kinda cheesy, but people love it because this smaller chain has a big reputation. The fuel prices are usually quite good and some of their locations also have a shop where you can grab parts or get minor repairs.
Huge Stores, But Only in Certain States

Buc-ee’s doesn’t allow big rigs, but drivers in pickups or on a break while bobtailing still visit because it’s completely crazy inside. There are wall-to-wall snacks and 100+ gas pumps, as well as restrooms so clean they feel like they belong in a hotel. Anyone living in states like Texas or Florida who’s lucky enough to see the beaver logo should definitely visit. Even if you’re just grabbing a drink or stretching your legs, it’s one of the more entertaining stops out there.
Not a Simple Gas Station

Casey’s General Store is great for those rolling through Iowa or Missouri because while it’s technically a gas station, it has made-to-order pizza that truckers swear by. The store is also a solid grab-and-go place for breakfast sandwiches if you’re on the early shift and can’t stomach fast food again, with some spots being open 24/7. While the parking isn’t always huge, if you’re rolling through small towns, you’ll likely come across one, and it’s a good stop.
Independent But Nationwide

Any truckers who prefer less cookie-cutter spots will love Roady’s Truck Stops, as they’re not one-size-fits-all—these are independently run, but still under the Roady’s name. That means you can get fuel & showers like usual, but each place has its own thing going on, and you never quite know what you’re walking into. In some locations, they even host local BBQ joints or sell gear made by small-town people, and you usually get a better price on fuel, too.
Extra Parking for Long Hauls

Petro Stopping Centers are the ones drivers mention when they’re talking about needing some parking spaces, as some of these places have hundreds of spots. Once you factor in the laundry facilities and lounges, you have a solid overnight stop. It’s under the same company as TA, yet it has some perks that feel like an upgrade, and the food choices are a little better, too.
