Have you ever seen someone do something so irritating that it makes you question reality a little? And we don’t simply mean wearing Crocs or drinking oat milk, but rather, those little habits people think are totally normal now, thanks to TikTok and a few too many influencers. Let’s look at eleven annoying, trendy behaviors that people really need to stop doing. While these aren’t major crimes against humanity, they sure are getting out of hand. Which one drives you crazy?

“Get Ready With Me” Videos in Public Bathrooms

Nobody wants to be in the background of your skincare routine while they’re just washing their hands, yet some people will roll in and set up their phones like it’s a movie set. They’ll narrate their concealer process while strangers awkwardly try to avoid being filmed. People are trying to brush their teeth or fix their fly, not end up in your contour tutorial, and filming without asking just makes everyone feel uncomfortable.
Filming Strangers in Stores to “Catch a Vibe”

Likewise, some influencers will creep through Target filming other shoppers, even though the other customers are just there to buy toothpaste, for example. There are entire TikTok series with strangers’ kids and seniors picking out candles, all of whom are filmed without permission. If your aesthetic requires secretly filming strangers next to the seasonal section, perhaps you need to rethink things. Just because you can press record doesn’t mean you should.
Posting “Hot Girl Walk” Mileage Like It’s a Race

Some people just go on a walk, but others post hourly updates, along with GPS maps and step counts. We get it—you’re walking and you’re wearing leggings, but there’s no need to turn it into a sport. The rest of us are just trying to make it to the end of the block without tripping on the sidewalk, and you don’t need to log every step with a motivational quote or an Apple Watch screenshot.
Doing “Girl Math” to Excuse Wild Spending Habits

According to “girl math,” if you return one shirt and then buy one more, that’s free, which sounds kinda funny until you realize someone just blew their rent money on a scented candle haul because they skipped lunch on Tuesday. A few people will post spreadsheets with fake budgets to justify things like five iced lattes & $200 pajama sets, under the principle that it’s “girl math.” But that doesn’t make it better. It just turns reckless spending into a punchline.
Editing Photos to Look Like They’re From 2002

Most smartphones today record crystal-clear videos, yet some people are dead set on using apps to make them look like they were filmed during someone’s eighth-grade birthday party in 2002. They want the glitchy effects and grainy zoom-ins to help them relive a childhood they didn’t actually have. What are we doing? They might even buy actual digital camcorders off eBay just to fake outdated memories. At some point, you’re just making your life look worse on purpose.
“Soft Launching” a Relationship

Soft launching starts with a shadowy elbow, then a photo of someone’s shoe, and maybe a caption like “my peace” with zero explanation. They’ll tease their new significant other multiple times, but with no face reveal, it’s just weird. Just post your partner or don’t—either’s fine, just stop treating it so cryptically because really, nobody cares that much.
Filming Yourself “Waking Up”

There’s no universe where someone wakes up with winged eyeliner and glassy lips, yet, somehow, every other morning routine starts with someone “stretching awake” already camera-ready. You didn’t roll out of bed like that. Instead, you rolled out of editing apps and a tripod setup. While posting your routine isn’t that bad, if it takes 45 minutes to pretend you just woke up, you’re doing more of a performance than a routine.
Turning Every Minor Inconvenience Into “Main Character Energy”

These days, you just can’t have a bad day anymore, and when some people make a mistake, like spilling their coffee, they immediately pull out their phone to announce it was a “main character moment.” Every tiny problem needs a soundtrack and a voiceover, even though there’s no need to romanticize every single thing in your life. No, you were just late and grumpy like the rest of us.
Phubbing During Every Hangout

You’re telling a story, and halfway through, the other person’s eyes drop to the phone, and you’ve noticed that they’re not really paying attention to you anymore. This is known as “phubbing,” and it’s annoying because the whole point of hanging out is to be there, not being half there while checking the comment sections. If you can’t stay off Instagram for 20 minutes at brunch, maybe you should just reschedule the hangout for when you’re done refreshing.
Turning Every Outfit Into a “Core”

Someone wears a tank top and a headband, and they’ll suddenly call it “clean girl picnic core,” with a new “core” coming out every week without an explanation for what they’re wearing. Really, they’re just turning plain clothes into content, and the tags on these posts are endless, with things like #vanillagirlcore or #cloudcore. The truth is, you can wear a hoodie without turning it into a brand, and when everything’s a trend, none of it means anything anymore.
Treating Menial Tasks Like Content Series

Many people have turned basic chores into multi-part cinematic experiences, with simple things like pouring cereal becoming “morning crunch reset” and lighting a candle being a “nighttime unwind ritual.” They’ll film it from five angles and post it like it’s a series finale, and while there’s nothing wrong with a little daily content, not everything needs to be filmed. Likewise, you don’t need to give a name and catchphrase to all your chores.
