Looking up a new partner’s ex
Their partner’s ex’s profile is sitting right there, so, of course, curiosity wins out. It doesn’t matter whether they only check one photo or check a hundred of them. The truth is, a lot of women do check out who their partner dated before them.
They’ll claim they weren’t ‘investigating.’ They’ll claim they were just looking. But social media makes it so easy, and so tempting, to look at your partner’s dating history, especially since old relationship posts are usually quite public.
Screenshotting a conversation and sending it to friends
You won’t find strange texts staying between two people for long. Yes, one screenshot will go to the group chat, along with a question about whether they’re reading it wrong. It’s something even the research backs up.
Women often rely on close social circles for emotional support, more often than many men do, and sharing screenshots is a big part of that. She might swear she never shares conversations. Maybe she actually believes that. But really, she does.
Taking dozens of photos to get one “casual” picture
That photo by the window sure does look quite relaxed. Doesn’t mean that it is, though. She’ll probably claim that it was a spontaneous picture, yet the truth is that she might’ve taken that photo thirty times to find the right one.
Around nine in ten women take as many as 50 pictures before choosing one to post. Yet they know how that might come across, so they’ll deny taking loads of photos. Only one of these pictures survives, anyway, and the rest of the evidence disappears into the camera roll.
Saying she doesn’t care about birthdays
‘Don’t make a fuss.’ What a trap. Some women sound so convincing when they say they don’t want a big fuss for their birthday, and sure, a lot of them believe it. But then there are those who are actually lying.
That’s not to say they want balloons and a restaurant booking. They just want someone else to remember their special day without making it a big deal, and they’ll get disappointed if everyone forgets. It’s awkward, but it’s true.
Saying ‘Do whatever you want’ without meaning it literally
She says, ‘Do whatever you want’ and it sounds like she’s giving you freedom. But the tone says differently. She won’t admit it, of course, she’ll say that she’s given you the choice to do what you want. But the truth is that she wants you to make the ‘right’ choice.
Perhaps she’s tired of repeating herself, or maybe doesn’t want to sound controlling. The reason itself doesn’t really matter, honestly. It’s the fact that she’s trying to make a demand indirectly. That’s what counts.
Claiming she isn’t bothered after being excluded
There are some women who insist on saying they’re fine when they’ve been excluded. They’ll say something like, ‘No worries’ and act like it’s not a big deal. But it was. They’ll start checking everyone’s photos shortly after and try to see what they missed.
The thing is, saying that she was bothered by it feels like she’s giving the group too much satisfaction, and she’ll say she didn’t want to go anyway. She did, though, and she definitely noticed that the invite never came.
Judging another woman’s partner within minutes
Five minutes. That’s all it takes, just five minutes, and she’s probably made a judgment about her friend’s new partner. She’s noticed that he keeps interrupting her and talks only about himself, although she’ll say she’s not judging him.
People pick up a lot from first impressions, that’s why they’re so important. Most women don’t like admitting that because they don’t want to seem like they’re being superficial or anything. They’ll still do it, though.
Checking another woman’s engagement ring size
‘Congratulations’ come first, and it’s followed by an inspection of the ring a few seconds later. No, most women don’t know the exact carat weight by touch, but they will be able to tell whether the stone’s round or oval. They’ll pay attention to the size and how close it’s set to the finger.
But it’d sound rude if they confessed to making these judgments. It’d sound mean if they said that, actually, they were looking at how big the ring was. So they keep it all to themselves instead.
Saying she’s ‘almost ready’ before choosing what to wear
The thing with the phrase ‘almost ready’ is that it’s so vague. It could mean the makeup is done and one shoe is on, or it could mean that they’ve only just figured out what actual outfit they’re going to wear.
That’s why it’s such an annoying phrase. A lot of women will swear they mean it when they say they’re ‘almost ready,’ and that they’re definitely not lying about it. But really, their clothes are saying something else.
Keeping makeup after it expires
Try opening the makeup drawer. Chances are, there are at least one or two makeup items that are out-of-date in there, even though she swears she throws them away. She doesn’t want to seem dirty, after all.
But most women know how expensive makeup can be, and they’re not willing to chuck pieces away when they’re past their expiration date. That’s just a waste of money, apparently.
Noticing when another woman copies her
She rolls her eyes. She says that she didn’t even notice that another woman has the same new haircut, or the same oddly specific bag. She won’t directly call it copying because, let’s be honest, that sounds dramatic.
Maybe some of it really is coincidence. But she’s probably still keeping a mental tally of it happening and thinking about how all these matching items keep coming up. She’ll eventually mention it to one friend ‘just because it’s funny.’ How hilarious.
Looking at the price after someone gives her a gift
Let’s face it, nobody just gets a gift and leaves it at that. No, we all type the brand name into Google to see exactly how much it is. It’s not because women are ungrateful or anything, they may genuinely love the item. They just want to see the cost.
Women who do this will continue to insist that the price doesn’t matter, and that’s true. At least, it’s partly true. They’ll never admit it, however.
Wearing shapewear while saying the dress naturally sits that way
The dress fits because the fabric is good or the cut is flattering. That’s what she says, anyway. She won’t confess that she’s actually wearing shapewear underneath. She doesn’t want it to spoil the illusion.
It’s not exactly lying. It’s more like hiding the truth a little and leaving something to the imagination. That’s not really that bad.
