15 Things Many Men Say They’ve Lost Patience For

The older men get, the less patience they have. It doesn’t mean they’re grumpy all the time; it just means they can see what matters and what is a waste of time. Some things they just learn to quietly hate; others are simply common-sense don’ts.

None of these are your typical “moan and groan” list entries; these are the real things that most men claim to no longer have patience for. So, here are 15 things men say they can’t take anymore.

Endless Small Talk

Men don’t hate talking. In fact, they love it. It’s just that endless, pointless small talk can quickly lead to the short end of the temper stick. Chatting about the weather or an extended game of ping-pong with “How’s work?” won’t do the trick either.

Waiting on Slow Technology

Men also complain about their lack of patience when it comes to technology. Waiting for a website or app to load, or dealing with glitches and crashes, can be frustrating. They want everything to be fast and efficient.

Overly Complicated Instructions

Instructions for furniture and electronics can also be an issue. Pages and pages of mind-numbing details when setting something up can try a man’s patience. They want things to be simple and quick.

People Who Don’t Own Up to Mistakes

Men also lose patience with people who won’t own up to their mistakes. It’s one thing if someone won’t apologize for their actions; it’s another not to take any blame at all.

Being Put on Hold for Ages

Of course, no one likes being put on hold for hours when trying to contact a customer service rep. Long transfers between departments and listening to the same music for eternity are no fun either.

Meetings That Could Have Been Emails

Unproductive meetings with no clear agenda are one of the top things that make men lose their patience. Men often feel trapped and helpless listening to people drone on when everything could be summed up in a short, to-the-point email.

Fake Enthusiasm

Fake smiles and over-the-top enthusiasm or compliments can really get on a man’s nerves. Men often value being direct and honest; as such, a lack of exaggerated emotion can actually be a relief.

Traffic Jams Without Clear Cause

Tailbacks that offer no updates or diversion routes are another patience-killer for men. They say it’s even more annoying when there’s no explanation or reason for the jam.

Overly Complex Coffee Orders

Skipping the days of extra shots of syrup and extra foam on cappuccinos might be a good idea for men. They may simply want a good cup of coffee, fast and without any fuss. Waiting for baristas to handle someone else’s fancy, long orders with a queue behind them can be infuriating.

Repeating Themselves

Asking someone to do the same task or repeat the same information over and over wears on many men’s patience. They’d rather others listen the first time or write things down instead of needing constant reminders. This approach just wastes everyone’s time and energy.

Slow Walkers in Crowded Places

Struggling to walk behind someone who walks as slow as a snail in a busy city area can make men lose their cool. It’s one of those moments that makes them want to scream.

Overuse of Buzzwords or Jargon

Hearing endless corporate speak or trendy phrases that don’t add clarity wears men out. Men say that while they can appreciate the use of technical terms at times, when someone can’t use plain English and they have to hear it repeated numerous times, it’s enough to make any man lose his patience.

People Who Constantly Interrupt

Constantly interrupting someone during a conversation or meeting is quite irritating to many men. It makes them feel disrespected and like they can’t get their thoughts out. They would prefer if everyone listened and waited their turn instead of talking over others.

Messy Shared Spaces

Messy common areas are not something men appreciate seeing, whether at home or work. They prefer order and tidiness and feel that everyone should pitch in instead of leaving the chaos for someone else.

Getting Rushed in Decision-Making

Being pushed to make decisions, especially important ones, in a rush is another surefire way to anger any man. They say it’s because they’d much rather weigh all their options first instead of being forced to make a snap judgment. The stress of being rushed only leaves them feeling more likely to make mistakes and less confident in their decisions.
