You’d think being rich means flying first class & living in castles, and while that does happen, there’s a whole other level of weirdness that most people don’t know about. These habits don’t necessarily feel luxurious, but they sure are confusing. Here are nine habits of rich people that are far weirder than many people think. The rich really do live in a completely different world from the rest of us.

Renting Empty Planes to Fly Alone

We all know that rich people have private jets, but not necessarily in the way most of us picture it, as some wealthy people literally rent the whole aircraft—and leave all the seats empty. They don’t fly with any friends or family, just them, the pilot & occasionally someone to pour a drink, if that. Essentially, they’re using the whole plane like an Uber, and some go as far as booking fake passengers just to hit the minimum spend. Their goal is to have total control over space and noise.
Storing Art Forever

The only thing cooler than a Picasso on your wall is apparently never seeing it again, as many art collectors actually store their million-dollar pieces in temperature-controlled bunkers. Some of these places are buried under airports or behind biometric security, with a few pieces of art never even being unboxed after they’ve been bought. Investors will buy them & store them, then forget all about them because they don’t actually care about these pieces.
Building Duplicate Versions of Their Homes

A few super-rich homeowners build second homes that are exact replicas of their main one, with the same layout & same furniture—simply because they hate the feeling of being “away.” Some even train their staff to move the photos around to match the real house, and it’s like The Sims, but in real life. They’ll get everything copied down to the last T, including having the same creaky step installed in the exact same spot, just so the floors feel familiar.
Flying in Personal Chefs For One Meal

There’s rich, and then there’s flying-your-chef-across-the-country-to-make-breakfast rich, and sometimes it’s not even a big event—they might just want a “proper” egg sandwich. As such, they’ll pay for flights & hotels to get that familiar slice of avocado toast done just right because a soggy croissant in first class just doesn’t cut it. They don’t care as much about the ingredients as they do about the hands doing the slicing.
Keeping Shoes in Bank Vaults

Rich people have shoes that they don’t wear or even show off, but rather, they seal them up in private bank vaults, with some pairs being worth six figures, but they’ll never touch the floor. In fact, the owners don’t even keep them in the same country sometimes, and just knowing the shoes exist is enough for them. They’ll adjust the humidity in the vault based on the leather, while some of them are kept in custom-made boxes that cost more than regular sneakers.
Sleeping in Oxygen-Controlled Bedrooms

Regular oxygen isn’t fancy enough for some rich people, and they’ll install entire systems that recreate the “feel” of sleeping in the Alps or high-altitude climates. While it may be comfortable, it sure is weird, as the technology monitors the carbon dioxide & air pressure inside the room. Some setups mimic sunrise and sunset patterns, while others pump in cold air that smells like pine, with everything being remote-controlled.
Buying Rare Fruits That Ship in Bubble Wrap

Normal people grab bananas off the shelf, but rich people order individual melons that cost more than rent, which are flown in from Japan or Italy, and each one is wrapped like a Fabergé egg. They don’t save them for a party—they just want to see what “perfect fruit” tastes like on a Tuesday, and they’ll auction off some of these fruits before they’re even ripe. They might even pair them with silver fruit knives or custom slicing boards, just to show off.
Installing Ice Rooms Inside Their Homes

Some rich people don’t just keep a couple of ice packs in the freezer, but instead, they have entire rooms in their house that stay freezing cold on purpose. They’ll hang out in there after a workout or before bed just to feel refreshed, even if it’s 90 degrees outside. A few of these rooms have snow machines that spray new snow every day.
Buying Furniture Not to Sit On

You may have seen those fancy chairs with cool shapes that look rather uncomfortable, and some wealthy people collect those just to show off. Some are made of metal slabs, while others are all sharp corners or weird angles that would jab you if you tried—and a lot of them just sit alone in a room no one goes into. There’s no reason to have these other than just to say that you do.
