David vs. Goliath: The Underdog Wins Big

David – the boy shepherd – was a child when he encountered the giant warrior Goliath, who had scared off the whole Israelite army. For all he had was a sling & stones – and David trusted God. He shot Goliath in the forehead and killed him in one hit. The lesson of this tale is that no matter how weak or tiny we may be, God can redeem us from the toughest obstacles in life — if we’re willing to believe & be bold. With God, it says, even the hardest battles are not unwinnable.
Noah’s Ark: Trusting When It Makes No Sense

God told Noah that there would be a great flood that would overtake the land and that he needed to construct a huge ark to save his family & all pairs of animals. Some mocked Noah for building a ship on dry land – but he did what God said. When the flood hit, Noah’s faithfulness rescued them. This is a tale that demonstrates that even when God’s plan isn’t what others or we think it is, when we put our trust in Him, all will be well. It teaches us to listen to God’s voice even when it’s incomprehensible.

Moses’ people, the Israelites, had escaped slavery in Egypt, but they were stuck between Pharaoh’s pursuing armies & the Red Sea. Moses prayed to God in this desperate hour & the sea miraculously parted — leaving a dry road for the Israelites to travel. When the army tried to follow, the waters closed in, drowning them. Daniel and the Lions: Staying Brave No Matter What

Daniel was a strong-willed man who prayed to God even when King Darius had passed a law against it. Daniel was sent to a den of hungry lions as punishment. It conveys to us that God will rescue us & support us through trouble.
The Good Samaritan: Helping, Even When It’s Hard

In this parable, Jesus refers to a man beaten and abandoned on the roadside. Many people passed him by, but a Samaritan—who was from a group hated by the Jews—stopped to help. He plastered the man, brought him to a tavern & paid for his treatment. Jesus framed this story in terms of demonstrating that benevolence & compassion for others mattered more than partisan politics.
Joseph’s Journey: From Rock Bottom to Greatness

Joseph was sold into slavery by his envious brothers and sent to prison for a crime he never committed. However, through his ability to interpret dreams, Joseph was eventually brought to the attention of Pharaoh & became a ruler in Egypt. In the time of famine, Joseph saved his family from starvation. It is a parable about God making the harshest, most unjust situations good.
Jesus Feeding 5,000: More Than Enough

One day, about 5,000 people came to hear Jesus preach & there was nothing to eat. A little boy brought Jesus five loaves of bread & two fish, and Jesus blessed it, which miraculously spread to all the people, leaving enough to spare. This story demonstrates that God provides for our needs, even when it seems like we don’t have enough.
The Prodigal Son: Forgiveness & Love

One young man stole his inheritance early from his father and wasted it on selfish pursuits. After hitting rock bottom, he returned home, expecting to be rejected, but his father welcomed him with open arms & a feast. It teaches us that regardless of our faults or sins, God is always willing to forgive and receive us with love & joy.
The Walls of Jericho: Strange Plans, Big Results!

When the Israelites reached the city of Jericho, they were told by God to march around the city walls once a day for six days & seven times on the seventh day — while blowing trumpets. And on the seventh day the walls of Jericho fell down. It tells us that when we believe God’s timing & way, however weird, it results in miracles.
Jesus Walking on Water: Staying Strong in the Storm

One night, Jesus’ disciples were on a boat in a storm. They were struggling on the waves, and Jesus appeared to them from the water. Peter got out of the boat to see Him and fell when he doubted. Jesus caught him and said to him: “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” This tells us to keep our faith in Jesus, especially in troubled times. It teaches us that, even when life seems to overwhelm us, God is there to pull us up and keep us from drowning.
