I’m Over 60 – Here’s Why I’m Done With These 10 Restaurants

As we grow older, our taste buds, our likes & dislikes and even our energy levels change. If you’re a senior above 60  planning to go out for dinner – something simple and fun once – won’t be the same anymore. You will be bothered and upset by the noise and the happening atmosphere of some restaurants – while the trendy and unhealthy fast food won’t satisfy your palate anymore.

Let me share with you 10 types of restaurants that aren’t aren’t cut out for you after 60.

Trendy, Overcrowded Hotspots

These are the types of places we see on social media – but they don’t exist in reality. To wait an hour plus to get a table, standing in a crowded restaurant, screaming over loud music so you can be heard…just isn’t worth it anymore.

Restaurants with Overly Complicated Menus

Pages and pages of options – when sometimes all you need is something basic and filling. Inventive dishes with difficult-to-pronounce ingredients are unnecessary for me at this age now — old favorites are more satisfying.

All-You-Can-Eat Buffets

Buffets are handy, but often sacrifice flavor for quantity. And the chaotic buzz of people trying to grab something, the risk of germs, the struggle to earn your money’s worth just doesn’t seem quite the same.

Places with Tiny Portions but Huge Prices

Minimalist plating with sky-high prices no longer feels like a treat—it feels like a scam. And when you are paying that much, you want a plate that doesn’t leave you hungry.

Fast-Food Chains

Fast food eateries, as convenient as they are, are also a bit lackluster in terms of quality and atmosphere. Greasy fries and processed food aren’t as appealing by this age, and health is a priority.

Noisy Family Restaurants

These are the places to be if you have little kids but they aren’t where you want to get a nice meal. There are crying toddlers, rushed servers and the feeling that you can’t enjoy your food or talk because you’re in a big group.

Hipster Cafés with Uncomfortable Seating

I’m not a fan of those hipster cafés with wooden benches or metal chairs—cool at first, but after an hour, they’re a total pain. The good looks don’t matter for us anymore, so spending time in an environment that feels comfortable and inviting is critical.

Places with Long Wait Times

Waiting for a table or waiting an eternity for food to come doesn’t feel as good anymore. If a restaurant doesn’t get you on the table and serve you in a reasonable amount of time, then nope, that’s not an option!

Overly Formal Fine Dining Restaurants

Fancy venues are beautiful but the strict dress rules, petite-portions and swish atmosphere can be a pain in the rear to enter. It’s just more fun to be in a cozy, quiet restaurant and have good food.

Loud Sports Bars

With their screaming TVs, misbehaving customers, and all-around noise — sports bars can be more exhausting than fun. Watching a game at home, on your couch, munching on whatever is on your mind, is even better.
