If you’re a member of Gen X, then you’ll understand how much things have changed for people of your age. After all, you’ve been around the block quite a few times! Working the Same Job Forever

The idea of sticking with one job until retirement is getting a pass from a lot of Gen Xers. They value flexibility & fulfillment over the security of a lifelong career at the same company. Instead of climbing the corporate ladder at any cost, they’re looking for work that really means something.

Ignoring Mental Health

Mental health isn’t a taboo topic for Gen X like it might have been for their parents. This generation is open about their struggles and they’re far more likely to seek therapy or counseling when needed. Why? Because they understand the importance of taking care of the mind as well as the body.

Pushing Only Traditional Education

Many Gen Xers don’t believe in encouraging kids to follow only the traditional school-to-university-to-job path. Instead, they see the value in trade schools & online courses. They’d rather support their kids’ choices of educational paths that might better suit their talents and interests.

Staying Silent on Political Issues

Gen Xers are done holding their tongues on politics. They’re pretty outspoken about their views, which include hitting the polls & showing up at rallies. They’ll even discuss the latest headlines over coffee! Gen Xers are keen on making their voices heard because they know the dangers of not speaking up.

Ignoring Personal Branding

Many Gen Xers are focused on personal branding. They take their online presence seriously, especially as they switch careers or start entrepreneurship. Don’t be surprised if you see a Gen Xer updating their LinkedIn profiles at work—they’re just keeping their online image sharp. This way, they can stay competitive in today’s job market.

Skipping Breakfast

Gone are the days when Gen Xers would skip breakfast during the morning rush. Now, they make sure to have a solid meal to kick-start their day because they know the importance of having a hearty breakfast. After all, it gives them the energy boost they need to handle whatever their schedule throws at them.

Being Financially Uninformed

Gen Xers are pretty much on top of their financial game as they’re no longer sitting back & hoping for the best with their cash. Nope, they’re actively budgeting and investing. This generation is dead set on saving because they understand how necessary their finances are to stay free & independent.

Accepting Poor Customer Service

Gen Xers expect good service and they’re not shy about demanding it. If they’re not getting what they paid for, they’re quick to call it out or take their business elsewhere. While some people might call them Karens, it’s not fair to insult them in this way. What’s wrong with thinking that spending money should equal receiving quality service every single time?

Settling for Low-Quality Products

Likewise, Gen Xers believe that quality is non-negotiable. It doesn’t matter if it’s what they eat or wear—they’ll go for the best they can get. Essentially, this generation values durable products more than many of the generations after them. That’s why they don’t hesitate to spend a bit more on something that’s built to last!

Ignoring Their Passions

The idea of simply working to pay the bills doesn’t work for Gen Xers. They’re out there chasing what they love and that includes starting their own gig or turning a hobby into more than just a pastime. This generation believes life’s too short not to pursue the things that make them happy. Honestly, that’s a pretty good way to be.

Staying Out of the Loop

You won’t catch Gen Xers out of the know because they stay updated with the latest news. They’re a generation who are fully invested in new cultural trends & they keep an eye on tech developments. Their goal is to stay connected and clued in. After all, being informed is part of staying relevant.
