Some of the choices women make to look younger start out well, but they’re actually the first thing people notice about them, and they really age women way more than they should.
When the frame gets heavier

Black eyeliner can be great sometimes, no argument there, but there’s a problem when some women use it to go all the way around their eyes. You know the kind, top lid, bottom lid, waterline, the whole loop, it’s everywhere. They’re hoping it makes their eyes look bigger.
It doesn’t actually, it makes them look smaller and more tired, even worse in daylight. You can still use black eyeliner, but you should try keeping the darkest line near the upper lashes, as that’ll stop your eyes from seeming small and beady. You definitely don’t want that.
A small change that goes big

Lip filler. It’s meant to make your mouth look softer, it’s meant to make it look fresher, and sure, it works sometimes. Yet some women take it way too far, and they make their top lip puff forward. The corners get that stiff look that instantly ages them.
That’s not even the worst of it because filler migration and unevenness are possible risks as well, neither of which works like the fountain of youth. Get a little fullness if you want, but seriously, make sure you don’t overdo it. You’ll only make yourself look a lot older when you do.
Between appointments

Everybody knows gray roots are normal, although some women desperately try to cover them up. Nothing wrong with that. There is, however, something wrong with making the cover-up more noticeable than the gray hair ever was.Â
Putting a dark spray along the graying area or using a box dye that’s too warm? It’s not going to work, and it’s really obvious when you’re under bright lights. The line between gray and natural hair is clearer than you might realize, so you’re better off blending the grays naturally.
Borrowed from the feed

It’s okay to like trends you see online, and it’s okay to apply some of those trends to your own life, the key word being ‘some.’ Nobody’s going to believe you’re twenty years younger because you’re wearing a tiny top and cargo pants that you saw online.
It just becomes clear that you’re chasing your youth, hardly the impression you want to give off. Stick to copying one piece that you saw online, maybe two, but avoid doing a full set unless you want to look overly planned.
Cool without the calm

Ripped skinny jeans had a long run, and there are a few pairs that still look fine, they’re not the problem here. It’s the ones with big rips and a sparkly belt that cause issues. They’re ‘cool mom’ jeans, and they stand out in all the wrong ways.
Heavily distressed denim severely dates an outfit, and it’s not exactly helped by the fact that someone’s wearing a tight fit with busy styling. There’s a time and place for ripped skinny jeans. Newsflash, it’s not all the time.
When comfort takes over

Some women think they’re being smart by wearing loose clothing. Why? Because it doesn’t cling anywhere, so no awkward body parts sticking out, everything’s hidden under the clothes. That’s the problem.
Wearing only loose clothes makes you seem like you’re trying to hide something, and it’s much better for you to add some shape somewhere. One loose item of clothing, that’s it, nothing more. Give yourself a cleaner shoulder or a half-tuck so that people can still see you.
More cover than skin

The real issue with heavy foundation is how it collects around smile lines and dry patches. A lot of women layer it on to cover any uneven skin tones, without realizing that people start seeing their makeup instead of their skin. Not exactly a youthful look, is it?
Try using a lighter base because that’ll make your skin look fresher without sacrificing your appearance. It’s annoying, but it’s true, you need to have some of your real skin poking through if you want to seem, you know, real.
The version on the screen

Let’s get one thing straight, women aren’t opening their camera apps with the goal of inventing a new face, it just kind of happens. A little smoothing here becomes brighter eyes and thinner cheeks, as well as skin that has absolutely no pores at all. It’s not realistic.
People can see that you’re desperately trying to present a filtered version of yourself, and yes, they can see that you’re using Facetune to blur out every little ‘imperfection.’ It’s nowhere near as subtle as some women think it is.
Pulled into place

The thing with a slick bun is that it can work well sometimes, it does have its moment now and again. But pulling it too tight puts every bit of the hairline on display. Not in a good way, either. Your temples are thinner after 50, and pulling a slick bun tight makes the contrast easier to see.Â
Let’s not forget how tight buns and updos can also cause issues like traction alopecia over time. The style isn’t bad, it’s just what you do with it that’s often the deciding factor.
Fullness with strings attached

Thinning hair? Extensions seem like the obvious solution since you just have to clip in more hair, and then walk out with extra bounce. Except, no. So many women choose extensions that are thicker at the bottom but have light or sparse roots.
People look straight at the join and notice that, actually, you’re wearing extensions. You have to be subtle with how you wear your extensions and remember that in most cases, a little goes a long way.
