Over the years, I have learned that although I can get along with some people, I don’t enjoy being in a crowd or dealing with chaos for these 10 reasons.
Too Many People, Too Much Stress

When there are too many people to handle, your brain is doing a marathon. There is too much going on, too many voices, and it isn’t always possible to keep up.
Sometimes, you are just nodding along to get along, but are just waiting to get out of there.
You don’t hate people, you hate being among all that noise.
Some People Are Emotionally Draining

Everybody knows someone who always has something negative to say or who views you as their own therapist. You mean well until one day, they feel like they’re sucking your life away.
It’s too tiring to give away so much energy without getting anything in return. You want to hang out with people who make you feel good and who don’t burn you out.
Small Talk Is Exhausting

Talking about the weather, or what to do over the weekend, or “what’s up at work”? And yeah, they are so useless sometimes. You don’t dislike talking but you want to talk about something important, like what someone dreams about, what books they like or how they see the world.
Being Alone Feels So Much Easier

If you’re like me, there’s nothing better than just reading a good book, binge-watching a favorite TV show or just sitting alone with a coffee.
Alone time is when you recharge and come back to your true self again. When you’re around people for too long, your “batteries” are running dry, and all you want to do is return to your secluded little world.
Faking It Is Just Too Much Work

You know, the fake giggle you pull out at someone’s bad joke or the fact that you’re having to play interested in something you don’t care about? It’s exhausting.
It is hard to have to pretend to be excited or cheerful all the time. And dealing with people who are just so clearly making it up is even worse.
You Feel Like Everyone’s Watching and Judging You

It’s kind of like standing on stage, when you’re out there. You begin to fret about your appearance if you’re saying the “right” things or if someone is judging you for how you eat your food.
Loud, Pushy People Are Overwhelming

There’s always that person who talks over everybody or the guy who steals everyone’s attention. If you’re a very silent kind of person, this is way too much. So, instead of basking in their energy, you want to go away because it’s too much.
Drama Takes All the Fun Out of Everything

Some people get energized from drama, rumors and pointless arguments. You and I are not one of those people.
You’d like your time to be mellow and calm, but some people live for the drama. Being in the presence of such energy can be a waste of your time, and it can leave you feeling even more stressed out than you were in the beginning.
Why Waste Time on Pointless Hangouts?

Life is short, and hours spent in a dull social group are hours you could be spending doing something that makes you happy.
Be it a hobby, just unwinding, or getting some sleep, you’d rather be doing those than making little talk to someone you don’t even care about.
Nobody Really Understands You Anyway

At times, it feels lonely to be in the company of others. If they’re not your type of person, don’t share your interests, jokes or thoughts, then it’s like speaking another language.
You’re left feeling adrift or unfit and that’s discouraging. If you’re by yourself, at least you don’t have to explain yourself or pretend to be someone else.
